Thanks, Stonehouse, for ferreting out another good article. Mr. Cooney was really bragging up the Cardinal's defense. I'm hoping Soph, Dani, and Megan (with their friends) can break it down. Go Pilots and Happy Thanksgiving!

Here is a difference between team mentality. Our defense was tested last week and some conversations between players and coaches ensued. I have my fingers crossed that they have something to prove and will be sharp as tacks. Stanford played Rutgers who never got any numbers up on the attack so I am hoping we make them have a bad day. Stanford takes a lot of shots and we take more. If we can get those on frame it might be the difference.
As the article points out the teams are similar in stats. Our women will be bonding together on Thanksgiving which is nice for the team morale. I have a feeling this one will be a ladder match.

Auto Pilot - SHOTS ON FRAME. Good key point. We can be wild at times, and chances will probably be more limited today.

Re: Article on Game from Palo Alto Paper
Right fan, we've got to be very aggressive in our offensive third, just sending in a barrage of shots on the GK. But we must be patient enough to make sure those shots are on goal.
I also would like to see a wee bit less passing horizontally, and see more shots just dumped in front of the goal, where we have several very good players at picking up the garbage and sending into net!
I thought the JMU match was the best Charney has looked to me all season. I think she's gaining confidence at center attacking mid. Although her passing looked very much improved, I'd still like to see her just take a few more shots - they don't have to be perfect. Like I said, create a scrum and we have some pretty clever finishers.

Agreed regarding Charney's play against JMU. She had a very nice game.

A quality of Charney's that I really like is her preference to take the ball straight to the goal as opposed to sending it wide. This does tend to create chances for herself and others. Now, as others have commented, if only Charney and others can get more of their shots on frame....
