USA 4, New Zealand 0
O'Reilly scored in the 1st , Rodriguez 43rd, Tarpley 56th, Hucles 60. Cox went in for Mitts in the 62d. They win the group and their quarterfinal opponent is...Canada.
No, I didn't get up to watch it. But I know how to use the Internets!

Re: USA 4, New Zealand 0
Good show, PPT!
They scored in the first minute? What a great advantage to score right at the start of the match. By the same token, to get scored on that quickly is terribly demoralizing no matter how good you are. A great team, though, knows how to focus back on the match and just works that much harder to get the goal that brings the game back even.
USA vs Canada in the quarters? That could be a fun game to watch. Anyone know the details yet on when that will be, and the TV channel?
(I'm greedy...I just want Sophie back in Portland ASAP! And boy, aleppiek, it sure would be great if we could have her back for the Ducks.)

No need to worry about work, my friend...that's 3[i] AM our time:shock: . China is 12 hours ahead of Eastern time, so just reverse the AM or PM, then subtract 3 hrs. to get Pacific.
USA-CAN is at 1800 (6 pm) China time on the 15th, Friday night. That's 6 am Eastern on Friday morning. And 6 ET=3 PT.
The 12-hr. difference, btw, is how NBC can show all these swimming finals live in prime time (on the East Coast). The races are at 10 or 11 in the morning in Beijing.
Now that you know how that works, I'll leave you with the full Olympic schedule--just pick your favorite sport:

Re: USA 4, New Zealand 0
I suppose the advantage of playing Canada is we might also be able to watch the game on CBUT Live, albiet not in HD.... And it would be interesting to hear commentary geared more toward the Canadian audience...
They broadcasted all the swimming events live last night... it was nice to watch them live at 7 instead of having to wait until 10 when they finally got on on NBC, although I must say the commentary was pretty repugnant But it let me get to my beauty sleep, and believe me I need a lot of that...

Re: USA 4, New Zealand 0
I was wondering if y'all got the Olympics live too. I guess not, because I was talking to my mom last night while I was watching men's synchronized diving (yes I was!) and they still weren't on for a couple more hours out west. If I recall correctly, this is the first time in several years that they are showing the olympics live, and yet only half the country gets live action (well, maybe you get live in the morning). Sorry, I am kind of off subject here.
Glad to see we beat the All-Blacks. Go USA, beat Canada! back on subject.

Mattywiz,
I am pretty sure we get a west coast feed, which is terrible because I am somewhat glued to my sports headlines, and it ruins the drama for me.
Which is also why I think that the game VS Canada will be 6 AM PST on Friday and not 3AM.

Re: USA 4, New Zealand 0
Yeah... the messed up thing is that they just use the same tape from the East Coast feed so it still says "Live" in the corner, which was really throwing me off last night because I already knew that Phelps won the 200 freestyle but then when I saw it was live I thought maybe there was another race for him coming up. Not going to make that mistake again...

Oh we get live action, but this game was on MSNBC, which the local cable provider took off regular cable. The alternative was watching on the net. The good part of that is you don't have to listen to Brandi.
And the Rugby men are the all blacks. The football men are the all whites. The women are the ferns.
I did not make this up.

Re: USA 4, New Zealand 0
I know that the All-Blacks are only the rugby team, I know I will never get a chance to say the US beat them, so I figured I' try it once.
Aleppiek, your post kind of reminds me of the scene in The Mighty Ducks when Gordon Bombay shows them their new jerseys and they find out they are the Ducks. All the kids are saying no one is afraid of a duck, and he says "Ducks fly together."

Ferns have managed to survive for eons... The most prehistoric of terrestrial living things on the planet.... Whats not to fear about that??

Reading all these posts from the last few hours has me wondering just what thread I'm on.
Are you folks all at some party somewhere? Maybe for season ticket holders? What are they feedin' ya'll: beer and Cold Duck?
Guess that's what happens when I take a nap...or was that yesterday I took a nap? Ahh, no matter...
Party on!!! (Pilot Nation in a groove...)

Here's what I can figure out now.
The official Olympic schedule shows game time at 18:00 shanghai. That's 6:00 AM Eastern, 3:00AM Pacific.
The Comcast online schedule shows it will be shown on USA channel.
The other early game will be on MSNBC and Telemundo.
