Paint Job

has anyone seen the new paint job on top of the Chiles center? I drove by it this morning on my way to work and it looks like they are making it a dark purple. Well It had white primer on half of it and the other half had not been touched, but it looked like a few of the facades between the concrete supports/"drainage pipes" were the UP Purple.

I haven't been up there recently, but I know the plan was to paint a big purple 'P' on the side facing Merlo Field, with the rest of it white.

Personally, I wish they would paint the dome purple. (A very fitting choice, I would think.) Then can put a big white "P" in the center of it facing Merlo. A white dome is going to be way too bright...

But you have to be careful to make sure it doesnt end up looking like a big zit...

I was just by there an hour ago. about 1/2 the dome is white(ish). there appear to be two shades, so I'm sure not all the coats are done.

It'll be a while.

Speaking of new paint and fixin' up... the UP athletics website is undergoing some upgrades soon... the bits I am aware of should make it a better experience, and it is designed from scratch with the new logos in mind... We should be seeing it live well before the fall sports kick in to gear.

CC: I flew out of PDX the other day and we flew over campus and I can confirm that the dome is about 1/2 painted in various shades of white... not sure which is the final.

Still in progress. There actually didn't seem to be much progress at all on the stadium side in the last week, but There's still time.
