Coach Jim Sollars is 1 win away from setting the all-time WCC win record! With a win this weekend @ Gonzaga, Sollars moves into 1st place in all time conference wins. (The game is on TV, 2 hour tape delay, on Saturday at 4pm on Comcast SportsNet, Ch. 37).

No such luck: 56-70. But you can see him get it Wednesday night. I know I'll be there!

And Kelly Graves was Sollars' top assistant during their great mid-90s run when they made all those trips to the NCAAs. It's no surprise he's done a good job at Gonzaga.

Pilots at home vs. SCU tonight at 7pm... Sollars goes for the record again.

Another loss, but a close one to SCU. Everyone in the building knew Cronk was going to take the last shot. She managed to get a screen and calmly put up the winning shot with 5 seconds left. Heartbreak.

Cronk hit 3 3-pointers in the closing minutes... Ouch.

St. Mary's on Saturday is the next chance...

And SCU kept running their shooters off the same double screen when they wanted to shoot a 3 (credit for this observation goes to my fellow trumpeter Ken). That one hurt, all right. Portland got a little bit of a lead, then SCU kept coming back all night.

And if you're wondering, the Concert Band rehearses Wednesday nights, which leaves...6 players (all alumni).
