Timbers!

How about them Timbers!
After a slow start to the season under new Coach Savarese, the Timbers earned the #5 seed in the west, and knocked out #4 Dallas at Dallas, then knocked out the #2 seed Flounders in a 2-match series, and knocked out #1 seed Sporting KC last night. The Timbers are back in the MLS Cup vs. Atlanta on Saturday 12/8 in Atlanta...
Last night's second half was amazing. After being behind the ball virtually all of the first half and down 0-1, Sebastian Blanco struck a critical road golazo in the 52nd minute to spark the Timbers who pulled off a fantastic 3-2 win (3-2 in aggregate after a 0-0 draw in the first leg).
This run has been without Armenteros, which makes it even more amazing. Asprilla, Blanco, and Valeri have been on a tear in the playoffs... wow!

Too bad Atlanta qualified for the home game. But the Timbers played them there early in the season, to a 1-1 draw. They hadn't defeated KC this year, either.

It will be nice to see Darlington Nagbe again, but it will seem strange to see him wearing an Atlanta uniform.
Former Pilot GK Paul Christensen appeared once for Atlanta this season (the #1 and #2 goal keepers were injured and the #3 keeper got a red card,) but he's not on the roster for the MLS final.
