2014 Pilots on the road

Post by purple passion on Wed Aug 20, 2014 7:56 am

Portland's first away match is against the AP's preseason number one pick, FSU. A little bit about them (written by them) is at:

http://www.wctv.tv/sports/headlines/FSU-Picked-to-Win-ACC-271694661.html

This is, by anyone's standards, a formidable opponent for our young Pilots, but it's anyone's game to me.

I get the impression that GS loves this kind of challenge.
Trial by fire.

Great preview for the championship game, the vets against the kids.
This game is going to be nothing like the rematch in Boca Raton.

Live audio from UP at FSU:
http://portal.stretchinternet.com/up/full.htm?eventId=162832

They took a 1st half water break - must be hot in FL Smile
0-0, still in the 1st half.
NCAA must have cleared De Haan as she is in goal.

The feed went silent at the half.
FSU sent in a long searching shot at 44:56 and chipped de Haan. Adam had to wait to see the ref's signal to call it a goal because it went in at the buzzer.
So, more work for the Pilots on the 2nd half.
2nd half at 5:30

Still no audio for me.
FS is raining the shots in the second.

Looks like Kennedy actually started in midfield and got more minutes than Griffiths-Boston.

From the play-by-play it sounds like the 4-2-3-1 we saw v Kentucky, but Wetherington just came in for the first time and no McKluskie.
This second half has been tough defending.

I'm guessing the Pilots are proud of how they did tonight. I know I'm proud of them!
