Possible CC prospects?
I ran across this today from the Seattle PI.
It loks like a couple of good prospects are looking at Portland.
Emily Farrar and Natty Plunket both mention Portland on the list of schools they are considering.

Location: Lowry the tailor lived there when boys were boys. In his day he was fond of the gun. He always carried his powder loose in the tail pocket of his coat. He usually had in his mouth a short dudeen; but in an evil moment he put the dudeen, lighted, in the pocket among the powder. Mr. Lowry was an eccentric man.

Yeah, it's pretty exciting. We have TWO girls with a 5:02 mile coming in next year so far. They'll replace our two exiting seniors, Allison Ritchie and Bobeya Krishnek nicely. Bo has gone under 5 for the mile and Allison hovers around 5:05 I think.

This past week Luke Puskedra and Hailey Knettles were named the 2007-08 Gatorade Cross Country Runners of the Year, the first year Gatorade has presented the award for cross country.
The award is intended to honor those athletes who excel on and off the field, and Puskedra and Knettles definitely fit that criteria.
...
Like her Judge teammate, Knettles also won the 3A state title this year finishing with a time of 18:25, 22 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.
At the girls Foot Locker Western Regional, Knettles finished in 54th place. She maintains a 3.77 GPA and has verbally committed to University of Portland.
Sounds good!

Just saw that we signed another runner, Lyndy Davis of Monroe high school in the Seattle area.
Looks like she has some good times... welcome Lyndy!

another runner signs
Shane Geiger, a senior cross country and track standout at Camas High School, has signed a letter of intent with the University of Portland.
Columbian.com
Among other things, he'll be the best returning HS runner this spring in the 1600.
For an idea on his times, look at his athletic.net profile

Re: Possible CC prospects?
Here's a nice article about UP recruit Hailey Knettles. She's aiming for three individual state track titles this year (800, 1600, 3200). Sounds like a total stud... she also won the individual state XC title in the fall.

1) It's weird they still use yards
2) I'm surprised they allow kids to race all three... in Oregon you can only do either the 800 and the 3000 or the 800 and the 1500. They don't let you do the 1500 and the 3000 together no matter what.

Oh... oops! My bad. I was a JV sprinter, and not a good one at that. The long distances scared me.

Are you sure "stud" is the proper term for a future coed student-athlete?

Nice article about Bethany McInturff of Idaho, who just won the 1600 and the 800 at the Idaho state meet:
