Sippel Leads Seven Pilots to Receive WCC All-Academic Honors

On the web: http://www.portlandpilots.com/news/2013/11/8/WSOC_1108130003.aspx

PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland junior midfielder/forward Emily Sippel landed on the West Coast Conference Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team and is one of seven Pilots total to receive all-academic honors. This is the first time on the conference all-academic team for Sippel, who received honorable mention accolades last season.

Sippel is a biology major with a cumulative GPA of 3.87. She has three goals and five assists this season for the Pilots, who are currently ranked 12th in the nation.

Receiving all-academic honorable mention for Portland are seniors Sarah Bridges, Micaela Capelle, Michelle Cruz, Erin Dees and Ellen Parker and sophomore Haylee DeGrood. Portland’s seven total players honored matches Santa Clara for tops in the conference.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
