Anyone else having problems with the stream from the UW? Mine died in about the 34th minute and has not let me re-connect. The message that comes up says there is not content currently streaming.

That is good news as is the 3-0 score. It looks like the Pilots are making several substitutions late in the 2nd half.

I couldn't tell from the live stats, was Frisbee playing forward or D?
Commentary on her, and the other goals?

When the video feed was still working in the first half, she seemed to be playing defense.

She played defence all game. Her goal came when she was forward for a free kick.

Play  and the field was Generally sloppy. The crown in the field didn't help balls going forward.

The Pilots put on a lot more pressure in the second half, and I'm sure the wind off lake Washington helped. Sipple was the Tasmanian devil when she came in. Lots of folks got in this game.

Excerpts from the Husky athletic site summarizing their view of the game. Interesting note on energy given our substitution pattern against Wyoming. Was Garret saving something for today?

“We knew today was going to be a tall order, being in Corvallis on Friday,” said head coach Lesle Gallimore. “The weather conditions and the overtime game on Friday definitely took a lot out of us, but I thought we came out great. We played well in the first half and had a good game plan. In the second half, we didn’t match their energy and gave up goals.”

The first half was very even with neither team having many chances on goal. Both teams took three shots and three corner kicks, but each goalkeeper was forced into just once save. Megan Kufeld did do well to come out and punch away a corner kick that was played dangerously in front of goal.

After the half, Portland took control with a goal just 1:23 into the period. Amanda Frisbie scored for the Pilots and it seemed to deflate the Dawgs.

Just five minutes later, Portland added to their lead when Micaela Capelle finished a cross from Emily Sippel to make it 2-0.

“I am not pleased with the mental toughness and physical toughness that we showed,” said Gallimore. “I thought that game was there for the taking, particularly going into the second half and Portland was the team that came out and played harder.”

The Dawgs made some substitutions to get fresh legs on the field and had some chances, but nothing that would result in a goal.

“We weren’t very good on the attack,” said Gallimore. “We didn’t play the ball in when we could and just weren’t dangerous.”

Portland scored its third goal in the 65th minute when Cappelle added another, giving her a team-leading seven for the season.

The Dawgs did mange eight shots in the second half, most of them coming after trailing by three. Amanda Perez came off the bench to put two shots on goal, while Kate Bennett, Jaclyn Softli and Annie Sittauer had late chances.

I don't think there is any question that he is taking full advantage of a deeper bench than we have had the last couple of years. Last year we suffered on the second day of the weekend.

You had 3 who started Friday that got a rest so others could get some minutes:  DeGrood, Hall, & Downing.   Elmer got some minutes Friday also.   Everyone is getting to play except Jeter and Cameli who I believe are injured and likely out for the whole year.

Wasn’t there, didn’t see it, but when I heard that UP had sent in subs Boon, La Prevotte, Edenstrom, Bridges, and Bindl, I knew Garrett had great confidence in his “new” bench and was probably feeling pretty good about the team's second half chances when WCC play begins next Saturday in Stockton.

Box score shows attendance at UW as 715. Any idea how many of those came up from Portland for the game?

Ha-ha, there were “officially” 309 fans at the men’s game today at Merlo Field (although a few of us straggled in at halftime and weren’t counted), but I’m confident in saying ALL were from Portland……(or at least the Portland area). Rolling Eyes

Maybe 60 showed up at the pre-game pizza feed.. Then there was a complete contingent from the Drum Squad and the shirtless boys in kilts. (2 busses?) and ancillary students.

That doesn't include Seattle area Pilot fans, of which there were more than a few.The usual contingent of Pilot parents...

PilotNation was well represented...and we were louder. But it is hard to say. Everybody there was in purple.

But props to the Dawgs for having a band also. It adds some nice color to the game.

Yes there were. They hung out mostly at the far end of the main stands in front of the section their band took over.

I was a little surprised to see the final score given how physical UW typically is. Has the Husky program slipped that much? It seems like they have been trending down the last couple of years.
