If you are curious what MLS players get paid... Or, if you are curious what former Pilots in the MLS are paid... Well, here you go:

Hmm, very interesting; especially the guaranteed compensation (I only looked at the Timbers numbers except to see what Perkins is making in Montreal vs. what Ricketts is making in Portland....$300K for Donovan, and $237K for Troy)

Yea, Valeri’s compensation seems high to me, but most of the other Timbers salaries seem about right. Like any professional sports team GM, the Timbers GM has to take his chances on some high priced players it would seem, but I doubt there are any LONG term contracts as in other sports such as baseball and basketball.

It would appear former UP star Ryan Kawulok is paid the MSL minimum, but I imagine $35,125 seemed large when he signed. Considering his young age and lack of experience, it would seem fair...

(Thanks for the link....but I did feel I was snooping a bit). Embarassed

Relative to an NBA player $35k might not seem much, but getting paid that much to play an amazing game (plus really good benefits, road stipends, small sponsorship kickbacks and team incentives)? I don't know, I'd take it. Further since its all unionized the longer you stick on a roster, you are guaranteed modest raises.

Yeah, a contract for more than a year doesn't really mean much in soccer. This isn't like the NBA or NFL where there's one league that's far above the rest in terms of quality of play and money available. In reality collecting transfer fees when their players move is a smart way for a lot of clubs to do business.

He is on loan from Lanus for a year. There is apparently an option to buy his contract outright. Considering the production and salaries from Boyd and Cooper, he looks like a bargain so far.
