UP v CSUBakersfield

UP beat Bakersfield tonight in two nice second half goals from Steve Evans after spotting Bakesfield a goal on a grab/takedown/great acting job PK award in the first half.
Don't get me wrong, it was totally earned. A CSUB attempt at drawing a foul in te second didn't fare so well, earning a caution for simulation.


Evan's second was a beauty from about 30 yards.

It was an interesting game to watch. Evans displayed a great first touch through the whole game and was alway a threat to score or set others up.

Bakersfield's #22 Gyasi Zardes was scarey good, often brushing away players like flies and getting several opportunities.

Great game by Baarts the keeper as well, and pretty good team defense.


We play Wisconsin at 2:30 Sunday. If you are coming to the match, get there a bit early to see Zardes. Fun to watch, in a peeking through your hands way.

That second goal from Evans was magnificent. I want to see some match highlights just to watch that goal again.

Baarts played great in the goal today. He was my man of the match, personally.

A frustrating game. We clearly have the quality to play with teams like this but we insist on lumping the ball to them just so they can come back at us.

Zardes was quality and fun to watch! Great showing by Stevie Evans though as well.

Hopefully we can keep the ball a bit more against Wisconsin and show OUR quality!
