Yeah I have a message in to the illustrious tech team... Its kind of funny though, the providers give us zero warning when our renewal date is going to happen at all, blah. I guess I should set a reminder on my phone....

And here I was going to blame pnut.

Oh my phone reminder was going to be "Remind PNut to renew domain name" ... I'm just middle management.

Gahhhhh this is annoying. Sorry folks... Fix is in process.

The good news: We generate enough traffic (and pay enough to bypass advertising on the site) that they no longer charge us for the domain name.

The bad news: Since we don't have to pay for it, we are not given advance notice to spend our credits to renew the name. It just stops working, and then I have to go confirm that Yes, we still want to use it here.

Thanks for your patience on the annual "Uh oh" moment.

I just put you on the calendar alert for next year. Expect a ping in 360 days or so. 

The funny thing is, both DTR and I had set reminders....  but the timing is a little different each year, it seems...  I tried to renew it "early", but the option isn't there to do it until it expires (or darn close to it)...  so it is a matter of hitting the timing just right, and let's just say a beer or 2 in me (see Timbers results from Saturday night) and I forget such things...

A) The beers were certainly understandable....
B) Frankly, having PN down for awhile only makes us appreciate what a great site it is compared to the rest of the WCC sites....
C) Thanks to all the administrators for whatever it is you do to make PN free, informative, and FUN! (I've found the "donate" button to be non-functional....so I guess it's good it's free....)

Thanks for the attempt, DD! We have sufficient site credits to keep us ad-free for the foreseeable future (thanks to all the previous donations), but I will let you know when we need to re-fill the cauffers!

Yeah that. As much as we like to heckle Pnut and DTR, this is the best WCC forum (and it's not even close).

Hey everybody!  ForuMotion finally installed some groundbreaking new technology to send me an email pre-notice that the renewal was coming up...  *and* they let me renew it prior to the previous year expiring!  Who would have thought this was possible?!    

I can't say I will miss our annual renewal mad scramble...

Yeah, but now we have no "power outage" to remind us how fortunate we are to have such a wonderful forum that is so much better than most others......and it's advertisement free and, for the most part, outrage free as well.
