Oh yea, I remember it very well.

Unfortunately, we grew up so poor in Oakland we couldn't afford the electricity to run it. But by living in California, we could count on the earthquakes to keep the players moving. Razz

It's pretty safe to say I was the only kid in Argentina with a set in 1955.

Did the players move twice as fast using 220-240 instead of 120 volts? Or did you just crank the generator slowly? Razz

They had 220-110 converters back then, too. Even without one, you could just tap one hot side to ground and get the same voltage as the USA. You could buy plugs that did that. But I vividly remember getting a shock was a markedly different experience.

As it turns out, Anna's husband also loved his Electric Football:

It had only two teams. There were no names on the jerseys. And the little felt ball often wouldn't stay with the players. But I spent hours lining up the teams, flipping the switch, and following the players as they mostly drifted off in scattered directions or bunched together in a log-jam. But anyone who ever owned the game will understand what I mean when I say that every once in a while, just when you'd given up all hope, you'd flip the switch and the players would suddenly do beautiful things.

The blockers would block. The ball carrier would find a hole, around end, turning up the sideline. And what would ensue was a 75-yard race to the end zone with the deafening roar of one 9-year-old little boy echoing down the hallways of our home.
