Brett Kingma (shooting guard) is transferring from Oregon after his freshman season. Looks as though ESPN's college basketball rumors page has identified Seattle U, USF, and Portland as potential destinations. However, I don't have an insider account so I can't actually read the article.

Simple arithmatic suggests he isn't coming here: we have no scholarship to offer unless someone/leaves before the end of the summer. Kingma and his outside shot will be sufficiently sought after that transferring somewhere without benefit of a scholarship seems unlikely.

The Ducks basketball program has only one of four freshmen from last year returning . . .an interesting trend in Eugene.

Here is what ESPN says:

Brett Kingma left Oregon seeking more of an opportunity for playing time -- that much we know.

What's less clear is where exactly he'll end up transferring. Lets take a look at some options that could make sense.

The Everett Herald reports that Kingma was originally recruited by Washington, Arizona State, Brigham Young, Pepperdine and Vanderbilt before deciding on Oregon, but it's questionable whether any of those schools (save for Pepperdine) are still interested.

One school to watch for could be Seattle University, which joins the WAC next season and would offer Kingma a chance to play only about 20 miles south of his hometown of Mill Creek, Wash. Just speculating here, but we could also see Kingma's sharp-shooting abilities translating well for a WCC team, whether it be at Pepperdine or somewhere a little closer to home like Portland or San Francisco. We'll let you know when we hear more on the schools Kingma is considering.

Looks like its all just speculation, but I'd be surprised if Rev and staff haven't discussed this as a possibility. We did offer him a scholarship a couple years back and he is probably still on their radar at least a little.

Did have a question though: is there a limit to the number of walk-ons a team can have? If I'm not mistaken we currently have 2.
