I'm not any kind of super patriot or anything. i have ties to more than one country.

But his was a pretty cool moment in US history.

I am, and it was!

The National Anthem sung by Ms. Houston was the only part of the Super Bowl I saw in 1991. It was close to 2 o’clock in the morning in Iraq and we were just “stepping” for our early dawn patrol looking for Scud missiles in an attempt to keep them from being fired into Israel. Just before boarding the flight line trolley taking us to the aircraft, we stuck our heads into the TV lounge at our base in Saudi Arabia and saw and heard the National Anthem sung by a young Whitney Houston.

We were pretty pumped as we boarded our F-15Es that morning; thanks Whitney! RIP.
