So the Villa Drumsquad is thinking of making an appearance to one of the Womanss BBall games. What game should the Drumsquad show up to? (minus the drums)

Those of us who attend almost every Women's Basketball game, would like you to attend almost every Women's Basketball game too! Don't choose just one, support your fellow students 100% of the time -- they will appreciate it and acknowledge it by lifting the level of their play.

Be proud, and be loud! pirat

I agree with DD. If I can drive from Hillsboro to most games, surely you could stroll across campus.

I'll make a response on the men's basketball topic later with ancedotes relating to the Men's team, but in short, I concur with DD & A_Fan. Go to as many as possible. The Women might appreciate the support more than the men.

As one of the few active students on the board and a vociferous supporter of almost all the squads, I know I will come off sounding overconfident and self-centered at times, but I speak from experience and from fighting this fight over the last few years, even if I wasn't the target of analysis. See last year and quite a bit after the USD game in 2010. This board will give praise as well, like after creative uses like the St. Mary's blowout

If I had my druthers, I would rather you build a tradition with the women's squad and have Padre and to a lesser extent Pilot Riot, motivate at men's games. During some games, you can test out material and even take risks, like mirroring St. Mary's coach for the entire first half, one of Clay and David's greatest accomplishments in my time on campus. You can't get away with as much as you can at a soccer game but it has a greater impact on the game itself.

Never underestimate the impact of showing up and not being overly disrespectful to the opponents and their fans Exclamation

I ran into Z yesterday and she called me out for not being at games. To be fair, I chose the men's soccer team against USF when Villa and almost every potential supporter went down to Occupy Corvallis and the women played Montana State and I got to be a part of the Drum Squad as the Men's team had the chance to win Conference while the women played Irvine
The women have also had plenty of road games during the Fall semester, some have fallen during breaks (PSU, Montana, Louisville through Saturday) and I had class during their Tuesday game.

The women have been so perennially under supported by the students that two seasons ago, I came extremely close to losing my voice by repeating the same five or so chants against Boise State since the band had a performance that day and for most of the game, I was the only student actively supporting the ladies. Luckily, I received help in the second half and the two of us managed to start a "Go! Pilots!" on our our that actually worked. Another conference game took place at the same time as Mr. Corrado; if half or even 20 people had made the journey to the Chiles Center for the last few minutes, the Pilots could have grabbed victory from defeat and improved their standing.

That year I was so full of energy and determined to fill the gap Clay had left, I was approached by young girls, and one time a young St. Mary's fan, to sign the team posters after a couple games. Those moments are both heartwarming and disappointing to me since I was not able to really share them with others.

Because of the Boise State game and Mauro's passing, I have lowered my energy output to preserve my voice. Last year a random person, possibly a USD parent, expressed his disappointment I was dialing down my energy.

Villa has become the default support group and my reluctance to take a leadership role has been a factor to this sad state of affairs, where like clockwork, this same topic is dragged up. As was said in the Men's topic, to help curb this consistent concern, have your leaders cooperate with the Padre leaders and Pilot Riot to pool your resources. Learn from each other's strengths and become the large bundle of sticks instead of three small piles. Both teams will certainly reap the benefits!

Also, the Tennis and Baseball teams need support, but I guess one sport at a time... Rolling Eyes
