U.S. U-23 Women's National Team kicks off 2012 with camp in Florida under new head coach

The U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team will begin its year of activity with a training camp in Sarasota, Florida, being held from Jan. 15-22. This will be the first training camp under new U-23 WNT head coach Randy Waldrum.

This year’s U.S. U-23s will mostly feature players born in 1989, 1990 and 1991, but of course younger players are eligible for call-ups. The 24-players roster that Waldrum has named for his initial training camp consists primarily of top collegians, including forward Lindsay Taylor and defender Camille Levin from NCAA champion Stanford and defender Natasha Anasi and forward Laura Weinberg of runners-up Duke. Camp also features four players with professional experience in WPS in Lauren Barnes, Elli Reed, Amanda DaCosta and Bianca D’Agostino.

Several players from the camp are expected to be taken in the WPS Draft on Jan. 13.
