Let's all support the men in their game on Sunday. If we win and St. Mary's loses or ties their game, there is a chance we could win or tie the WCC.

Good going, ladies. I'm looking forward to reading posts from people who were at the game.
Interesting that Dees replaced DeYoung for the shootout. As good as DeYoung evidently played during regulation, I thought last year during the playoff loss that there was no chance that she would get her hands on a penalty shot. I'm not sure why, size maybe? - but she indeed never came close. So, even though Dees didn't actually stop a shot, I thought it was probably a good move. I also noticed Danielle missed another penalty shot. Was it a bad miss? I wonder if she is aiming too much instead of just punching it in.

I agree completely soccerjoy, there should be no excuses on Sunday and the men could really use 4,000+ in the stands!
Dees is just more athletic than DeYoung, gets down to shots faster.
And it's a slippery slope once you start missing penalties. Dani's confidence has to be shaken, and no matter how good a player you are, once you miss, it is incredibly difficult to regain that confidence.

DeYoung did make some spectacular saves in the game, but having said that I was glad to see Dees come in for the PKs. Although she didn't stop any she came close and also successfully took our last PK! Dani's shot was directly at the keeper and did not have good speed.

Re: Pilots WIN! 7-6 on PK's!
The fact that Dees came close might very well have caused their shooters to shoot closer to the edges and therefore miss.

The box score says that attendance was 1503. Does anyone have an idea what percent was purple?

Re: Pilots WIN! 7-6 on PK's!
It was a fine time in Corvallis. Pilot fans were there in force and the Drum Squad was it's usual vocal self. The game was exciting with the Beavers playing their usual Pac12 physical style (fouls OSU 19, UP 8). The officiating was lax and the foul totals could have been much higher. Despite being out shot, I thought the Pilots did a good job of controlling the action. No one stood out for me in this game, everyone played great.
The pre-game event at the Hilton next to the soccer field was a lot of fun. The team was apparently staying at the hotel. They were in the lobby when many folks arrived for the event. We were able to wish the players and coaches well before they headed out to the field and we headed to the tent on the patio to eat and drink. The team seemed loose full of energy which translated well to their play on the pitch.

Re: Pilots WIN! 7-6 on PK's!
I liked Erin's gamesmanship "helping" the ref and the opposing shooter put the ball on the PK spot. It reminded me of Cori in 2005 punching both posts and controlling the tempo of the shootout. It had to put players off their rhythm.
If you weren't there, you missed some Great battles between Cloee and OSU's Buckland and Richardson, and Taylor, MO and Sarah chasing down OSU attackers.
I though we were pretty good at opening them up a bit with speed on the wings and some pretty good passing in the midfield.
It seemed pretty clear we wanted to slow the pace a little in the first half especially. It turned out, so did they, which i think played into our hands later. I think perhaps the coaches didnt want an up and down running battle all game since we were relatively short handed.
And when we picked the pace up after their goal it produced results. Nice to see we had a higher gear and we had something left at the end.
It looked like players were having fum.
All in all, a great game between two worthy opponents.

It was a pretty even split, I thoughT. One of the tv reporters thought 1/4 of the people wer in purple. That's not a true measure on a rainy night. My rain kit, for example, is black. And the OSU team was in black, so I could have been confused for an OSU fan if you didn't hear my comments to the ref
And UP fans were definitely more vocal. The team could definitely hear us and Garrett commented it felt like a home crowd to him.

Great game! 3 of us drove in rain and darkness to be there. Missed 20 minutes but OT made up for it. Just a battle all night for every ball. 1st half was rainy defensive affair. Lots more Beavers fans but Pilot purple andVilla students owns the east goal. 2nd half the attacks opened up on strong effort by both sides. OSU had chancesand scored on a beauty. Pilots answered with Frisbie breaking thru on a nice pass. Pilots and Beavers were toe to toe, all thru OT. Love that Dees went in for PKs... Great coaching move! What a night to be in purple. Long drive home wasnothing but smiles.

Thanks for finally getting us some details. We were wondering when youall were going to wake up and tell us what happened!!!
Question: did Erin place the ball after her kick or was she doing that for each OSU player or ??

One could question the decision to put her in that spot once again, particularly with the season hanging in the balance. While Dani has contributed greatly during her years as a Pilot, her apparent mental block and lack of confidence on penalty kicks, I can explain the poorly taken shots no other way, hurt the team against Santa Clara and could have cost the Pilots the game last night.
While it may be improbable that penalty kicks decide another game, it may be poor coaching to again place Dani and the Pilots in a position to lose if a penalty kick will decide the outcome. If she herself is fouled in the box I wish her a moments solace to deliver a well placed ball with pace.
Let's hope that this does not affect the rest of her play and she is a force to be reckoned with against FSU.
I listened to a fair part of the game last night. Hard to get a sense of the play over the computer, but did note that Frisbie seemed to make some positive plays, one almost leading to a second goal, and that Garret substituted much more than usual for the game.
Any chance that last nights play will result in a changed lineup for FSU? Garret seems to be playing a number of combinations, going with whomever is hot perhaps.
Go Pilots.
