Re: Conference Championships
The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) QFs are 11/3; SFs 11/4; Fs 11/6.
I think I'm right that the brackets for the following conferences won't be final until after today's games:
Atlantic 10
Big South
Big Ten
Big West
Colonial
Great West
Metro Atlantic
Northeast
Ohio Valley
Patriot
Southland
Summit
SWAC
WAC

Big East: WV over SH, Gt over Syracuse, Louisville over Providence, and ND over MQ. SF Friday, Finals Sunday.

I believe Stanford, Harvard and Santa Clara have clinched Reg season titles in PAC 12, Ivy, and WCC where there is no Tourney.

Re: Conference Championships
I think not on the WCC. I believe that if San Diego wins over Santa Clara, then San Diego will be the WCC champs. Santa Clara now has a tie. San Diego has a loss. If San Diego wins, they will have a loss and Santa Clara will have a win and a loss. Am I wrong?
Re: Conference Championships
The WCC is actually going to come down to Friday's games. With everyone having one game left SCU is on 19 points and USD and Pepperdine each have 18. Pepperdine is home to USF at 3 and Santa Clara is away to USD at 6 on ESPNU.
EDIT (Take 2):
SCU wins the WCC if they beat USD or they draw USD and Pepperdine doesn't win.
USD wins the WCC if they beat SCU and Pepperdine loses or draws (Pepperdine beat USD this year).
Pepperdine wins the WCC if they win their game and SCU draws or loses to USD.
Okay. I think I got it.

Re: Conference Championships
Right. If Santa Clara wins, they are the champions. If San Diego wins and if Pepperdine loses (doubtful they will lose), then San Diego is champion. If San Diego wins and Pepperdine wins, then? I assume that Pepperdine would be the champs based on a head-to-head win over San Diego, but I don't know how the tiebreaker rules work.
In any event, the critical game, in terms of WCC champ, is Santa Clara v San Diego @ San Diego.

If teams are tied for the points lead they are declared co-champions.
To settle who gets the auto bid, head to head is the first tiebreaker.
Then they compare against the #3, 4, 5 teams etc. in order.

I'll admit, I was skeptical of this one when it came out. I had the Pilots losing 4 games and possibly tying 2. I penciled in losses against Stanford, Oregon State, Santa Clara, Florida State and ties against Washington and one of their WCC foes. I didn't expect the 8 losses and missed on OSU (man, that was a warm day) and FSU. I had them 2nd or 3rd in the WCC. Behind Santa Clara, but didn't know what to expect from BYU. Oh well...

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In a wet, cold climate, and a soggy field, the University of San Diego women's soccer team was shinning, as they upended No. 7 Santa Clara University, 3-0, Friday evening to claim a share of its first-ever West Coast Conference championship at Torero Stadium, live on ESPNU in front of 1,789 fans.

San Diego Wins WCC Title
San Diego beat Santa Clara @ SCU tonight, 3-0, to win the WCC 2011 Championship.
Re: Conference Championships
And in year of firsts, that's the first time neither Portland nor SCU won at least a share of the WCC.

Actually, USD and Pepperdine share the title this year. Both were 7-1-0 in conference.
Pepperdine gets the automatic bid by virtue of winning their game with USF earlier this evening and beating USD in their match , which is the first tiebreaker.

You got it, Geez. Plus, I was doubly wrong, the SDU/SCU game was at San Diego.
Re: Conference Championships
FSU-Wake Forest is on ESPNU now (An FSU win would help Portland). Memphis-UTEP is on CBS College Sports (Memphis is in the top 10 so UTEP could steal an at-large).

AND the BU Terriers won their 5th straight America East crown today, so that is one more at large bid potentially open
And yes I did heckle the Albany players when I saw them wandering near my house Saturday night, I'll take full credit.

Speaking of our illustrious daily, how much of a drop off on Senior Night's attendance can be attributed to The O's scandalously inaccurate statement that the Pilots had been eliminated from postseason contention? I dunno, maybe it's minimal, but maybe not. We're only around a 3,000 average on the year now. The students unfortunately didn't come out in force.

Re: Conference Championships
AWK has us paired with OSU for round 1. He also has us at home, which I think is less likely. Even though we beat them, they are the better RPI team.
He also has us going to Duke, which I think is highly unlikely considering the teams on the west coast that will still be around for round 2.
Here is his pod for us.
http://www.allwhitekit.com/
Frankly, a lot about his selections look dubious, and considering how the committe has traditionally dealt with us, I think we are still very much on the bubble.
