I saw that, too... it's a great chance for us to convert Blazer fans! Very Happy

For those that could not view it. They were also stressing certain games... most notably: Gonzaga, BYU, St. Mary's, and Washington St.

Also, note the other tabs open: portlandpilots.com and ESPN.com. That is how it is for me.

They have done it again! It looks exactly the same but the ad reads:
Looking to get your basketball fix and not break the bank? Watch elite college basketball in the Chiles Center for a bargain! (no lockouts, we promise)

I haven't lived in Portland since '04, but it seems like the UP marketing guys have really stepped their game up in recent years. Nice work!

They've stepped up their game for the men's basketball program only. It makes sense since obviously they have been trying to establish themselves and basketball could potentially be a big money maker for the school but I think it comes at the expense of some of the other programs at times unfortunately

I think this is a great marketing outlet. BUT if the athletic department is going to spend that much money to place those ads, you'd think they would choose a better photo. If I weren't already a Pilots fan, this would be my impression: A guy dribbling the ball in a half-full high school gym.

Why not a Kevin Baily mid-air dunk photo? Or a photo that shows the Pilots playing a well-known opponent (WSU, Kentucky, Gonzaga)? Or at the very least, something with some action! That photo they used is about the most boring picture I could imagine. In the world of internet ads, these things matter, big time. People are moving from page to page online, clicking on links, in a hurry. This photo begs to be ignored. This was a wasted opportunity.

Agreed, Neighbor! I love that they put the ad on there, but the ad itself is quite bland...

You sound like this guy:

I get that 'Neighbor' is NoPoNeighbor's name but I still thought of Wilson immediately.

Also, in designing this most recent ad, UP conveniently pretended that the last week didn't happen. St. Mary's is referred to as ranked #16, instead of their current ranking of #23 (in the coaches' poll) or #34 (in the AP).

I don't know why my picture isn't working but it's a picture of Wilson from Home Improvement.
