Gonzaga
its a start.
The UP tied Gonzaga today 1-1 on a gol from Steven Evans. stats almost even across the board.
St. Mary's next, then the Zags at home.

Re: Gonzaga
They simply cannot afford to drop any more points in conference. Also, one shutout the whole season? It would be nice to see them keep an opponent out of the back of the night so that we don't have to score 3 goals to win a game

Re: Gonzaga
Clean sheet would be nice, but a goal from open play would be even better. When was the last time we had one of either?

11 minutes left. UP scores again. Nielson from Evans. Nifty run across the top of the box by Evans to set Michael up un the back post.

Re: Gonzaga
That was a tremendous run by Evans to set up Nielsen's tap-in for the brace. At least half the width of the field from right to left, across the top of the box, and into the box to cross to the far post.
At the very end of the first half, GU committed a silly foul with 0:03 on the clock for which their player was cautioned, setting up a direct kick in a dangerous position. So, with only three seconds showing, wouldn't you pull your keeper for the extra target in the box? Just sayin.

Re: Gonzaga
Much improved from the last home game. The guys created lots of good chances and the defense was solid. Pilots controlled most of the play.
I think things are looking up going into the final weeks.

Re: Gonzaga
St. Mary 's will be a tougher test. This Gonzaga attack just wasn't very good. They took seven shots for the game, and none were near the frame. Baarts had no stops.

Your forwards suck. Doesn't that piss you off after a while?

Until Villa showed up, I think there were more bodies on the pitch than in the stands. Is Wednesday a bad idea, was it too cold, was there some other event more compelling? Just asking.

For Division I women, Wednesday is the worst day of the week for soccer attendance, by quite a bit.

I'm tempted to say that BYU moving into the conference and not playing Sundays might have prompted the shift, however I recall previous seasons with Wednesday games. Non-Friday weeknights are all around a bad idea. Except maybe Thursday nights.

the BYU men don't play NCAA soccer. Im not sure you can blame the Wednesday attendance on them.
They play in the PDL.
