2012 WCC Tournament

Southwest Airlines has some great fares to Las Vegas during the Feb. 29 - March 6 period, if you have flexibility in your flight plans. Flights must be booked by this Thursday. We made our flight arrangements, $69 one-way.

Great rates. I'm not exited about the extra day off (or two if you think the Pilots will be in 8th or 9th place), but I think I'm going to go ahead and book the flight.

I just got the ticket information from UP for the tournament. All tournament passes went from $135 to $175. The deadline to order tickets through UP is November 11.

With the addition of BYU, I would suspect that tickets will be much harder to get once they go on sale to the general public.

Who is planning to make the trip this year?

After seeing you walk in at halftime last year, might I suggest a little earlier flight this year.

I'm hoping we're not playing on Wednesday and am arriving Thursday morning.

Well, at the time that I booked the flight last year, it looked really good for us to NOT be playing on the first day...

I am thinking a Thursday arrival is appropriate, too...

……and don’t forget the hotel reservations! This year we won’t have to fight the NASCAR folks for rooms, but two years ago the Orleans Hotel and Casino was sold out of rooms soon after the WCC rates were announced. I just booked for Wednesday thru Tuesday (yea, yea, I know we don’t plan to play on Wednesday, but it will be a good day to play golf) and it came to $487.20 (including tax) for 6 nights – I consider that a good rate. Cancellations accepted 72 hours in advance.

When you phone to get your Tournament tickets, don't forget to order a couple more Gonzaga tickets before sales open to the public -- we want a HOME crowd!!!

In one of the best WCC games I’ve seen, St. Mary’s beat San Francisco tonight for the 13th straight time to claim the WCC regular season championship. The win denies Gonzaga a 12th straight shared or outright title. It is St. Mary’s first title since 1989.

So, which Pilot team will show up on Wednesday? The one who was within 6 of BYU near the end, or the one who got blown out by SMC? The Pilots have beaten SCU twice, by 10 at home and by 6 on the road. SCU played tough at LMU (who didn't?), and only lost by three tonight.

Here's hoping Rev can get the guys to pull together and complete the sweep of the Broncos. I'd like to see at least one more game this year. #didn'tchangemyflight

Back from Utah Sunday; Monday back to class; Tuesday hit the road for Las Vegas; and Wednesday on the court against Santa Clara. If we can make it to Friday we'll be pooped, but we will have achieved something -- a WIN!

Talked to the PPP Band director today; no, the band will not arrive in Las Vegas until after Wednesday's game, but will be in place for the women's game Thursday at approximately 2:20, and the men's game against USF at 6:00.
