USA - Japan 4:1

Pretty much a beat down in a game where both sides used the full complement of 6 subs.

USA ended the game in a 3-4-3 and scored out of it.

The Olympics will be played a lot tighter, but this was a good result.

A few years later I was really fortunate to go to the University of Portland, where support for soccer is incredible. After we won the national championship my freshman year in 2005, we had a ticker-tape parade in downtown Portland. I couldn't believe how many people were there.

I was thinking when I read that, "it's a good thing there was no PilotNation.net back in 2005, instead of being downtown, we PN Trolls would probably have been sitting at our desks posting about our favorite beer."

We've got to figure out how to create sustainable U.S. professional women's leagues. That's the next step. It's a big one, but I believe it's something that can happen in my lifetime.
