US vs PRK
It's almost half and 0-0, I gotta say our defense is looking shaky at best... But with no Cox or Rapinoe in the starting lineup I regard that as far from coincidence. The North Koreans are most definitely making a better showing than their men's team, they look pretty dangerous (And won't be facing a 6 hour public shaming).
The US' passing has been completely horrid, just any flow of the game is met by missed link ups, and way too much emphasis on beating defenders off the dribble. I'm not sure if it is the personnel on the field or the tactics employed, but some adjustments need to be made to create better linkage between the mids and forwards if they want to come out with the victory (Might I suggest subbing in a player whose name rhymes with Legan Gappinno?). Team Kim Jong Il has most definitely made the more dangerous team going forward thus far....

"The North Korean goal seems to be living a charmed life at the moment..."
Pretty much sums up the start of the 2nd half....

I hate to admit, but the player who replaced Rapinoe, is playing fantastic... And it pains me to admit it when that player happens to be Lauren Chaney.

BAH! Megan almost got the 3rd goal, but had it called back because the GK had her hands on the 50-50 ball. Megan came on for the last 20 or so and has really shown well, Pia has the wonderful luxury of a too much talent to choose from....
Final US 2- PRK 0 Just too much class in the 2nd half by the US, they just woke up and realized their talent and confidence.

Well, I think the adjustment to put somebody outside to help Lepelbet helped. I don't think Lauren was tracking back. When Cheney went inside it kinda came together.
She kept going inside in the first half, but she wasn't supposed to.

Re: US vs PRK
Most definitely made a HUGE difference, Lepielbet was getting a bit overwhelmed by speed in the 1st half. Chaney was way more effective when allowed to play in a more forward role (And not trifle with that pithy defending chore ) .
It seemed like they played more of a 4-3-3 in the 2nd half, or I guess a 4-3-1-2. The 2nd half seemed like they US had the center of the pitch on lock-down, in the first half the central players couldn't connect anything... (Sigh, halves like that make me wish Queenie was never written out of the national team picture.... GROOOOAAAAN)
I was shocked to hear the PRK roster had 10 players with 1 cap, maybe they were hiding their players so they were a mystery to international competition? It seems the WWC is not the place to be breaking in a new roster.... And maybe I shouldn't be shocked by any irregularities that come out of North Korea.

Re: US vs PRK
I agree about Chaney, and it pained me, too. I thought Meghan came on with a lot of energy and did some good things but also gave the ball away several times on unforced passes to nowhere. We were not stringing anything together in the first half - way too many long balls. I find myself shouting at the TV - STOP DOING THAT!! They never hear me - I guess I need to be louder.

Is this the new "dog ate my homework" for soccer teams? I mean if it happened, that's insane, but seriously....

A probable attempt to avoid the 6 hour reeducation and assignment to work camps the men endured.
