From O-Live, a note by Ken Goe:
University of Portland junior Alfred Kipchumba won the 10,000 meters Friday at the Mount SAC Relays in 28:38.34, which puts him third on the NCAA list this season.

“We were very excited,” UP coach Rob Conner said. “He hasn’t been known as a kicker. For him to outkick a couple of guys was fun.”

It was a big step forward for Kipchumba, and the warm weather in Southern California might have helped.

“He is a solar-powered runner,” Conner said. “I think that inspired him.”

Not sure the "solar-powered" quote is good for impressing future runner prospects from warmer climes. Suspect
