The Curse of Rob Jones
Ironically the loss to his former team is the most likely final nail in the coffin keeping SMC out of the tourney... For some strange reason I have a Culture Club song stuck in my head...
And a big OUCH for the puppies drawing the Redme, er I mean Red Storm.

Too bad for SMC, but agreed that the loss to USD was crucial in that decision. A home win over GU might have pushed them the other direction, too...
Zags draw St Johns... ouch. Then again, the game isnt being played at MSG...

Re: The Curse of Rob Jones
Aw when St. Mary's beat St. John's early in the year there was debate about whether it was a good win or not.
The zags go in as a high seed because of their body of work. They were going to pay a tough team. All they have to do is beat a team that was beaten by the team the zags beat for the WCC title and they inherit bracket until about the quarters.
Shouldn't be so hard.

If the zags can beat St. John's, it's a WCC preview with GU - BYU in the 3rd round. Maybe we will get to see Jimmer against a WCC opponent!

You realize BYU and SMC played earlier this year? If I recall BYU escaped by 1 point.

And that was before any honor code violations.
I'm saying the puppies have a decent path.

Forgot that, that was one of their "quality losses" that didn't help them get a bid. SMC ended up a #2 seed in the NIT.dholcombe wrote:You realize BYU and SMC played earlier this year? If I recall BYU escaped by 1 point.

SMC loses a heartbreaker at home in the NIT 71-70 to a snappy Kent St. team...
SMC lead most of this game, but missed free throws and turnovers late cost the Gaels...

Plus, Mickey McC couldn't finish on a layup at the buzzer.
