Team Canada on strike

The women's national team is done playing until the Canadian FA bring back their coach, who will leave after the World Cup because of differences with the federation. They also want a more concrete compensation plan. Currently they only get paid for the World Cup, World Cup qualifying, and Olympic qualifying (they didn't get paid for the 08 Olympics). Naturally most of the quotes are from the captain, Sinc.

"She's changed our program, she's changed our team," captain Christine Sinclair told The Canadian Press. "We can compete now with the world's best. And it's something we haven't been able to do in the past. And now to have this coach threaten to leave, we can't let her just go."

"We have a shot at something great," she added. "And we have the coach to allow us to do that. It's hard as players to see our organization not really support us, not really support our coach. It's a difficult position to be in."

Morace does have Team Canada playing great Ball, and it would be a shame if the CSA tried to push her out. I actually think that at this stage Team Canada has a great shot at the podium. Maybe better than ours.

The USA team had to go through the same deal with compensation when they were on the road to their last WC win. It looks like the Canadian women will have to fight the same fight.

They couldn't have a better team captain to lead them

GO Sinc!!!!

I wonder how Christine ranks 2 and 3. Very Happy

She just wants control of her program from the top to bottom,” Sinclair told CBCSports.ca Monday. “It’s a shame that the CSA can’t provide her that because she’s the best coach I have ever had and she’s completely changed our team. I think our results over the past year speak for themselves.”
