Technical Issues Empty Technical Issues

Post by Admin Sat Jul 17, 2010 1:33 pm

FYI the "Pilot Nation dot net" domain name is in the process of being renewed, and should be fixed in short order. In the mean time, the original site address, http://pilotfans.forumotion.com/forum.htm still works.

My apologies on the lapse... Hitting my head agai

For future reference.

If you can't get in the PilotNation site in the future, bookmark the original URL for the site:

http://pilotfans.forumotion.com/

That bypasses the PilotNation.net URL if the link is broken.

I am not sure why this is taking so long... my apologies again. The Pilot Nation address should be back up shortly. From the information I can see on the Admin panel, it should be working as of this morning. But of course, I am still getting the GoDaddy page when I using it.

The "old" site address is always functional, so feel free to set that as your bookmark.

I will update you when things return to normal here. Mad

This might be more than an expired Name.

Interesting. I do know that there was a domain name issue with the Forumotion people. But looking at the administration information, it was fixed as of this morning, but it may take some time to activate (?). confused

If this goes on much longer, I will send out a global e-mail to all users, and have them reset their bookmarks to the ugly address...

One other clue was that for several hours after the .net URL didn't work, the original front page did

https://www.pilotnation.net/portal.forum

Then it got hijacked, too.

Interesting.

We are not the only Forumotion forum having issues with domain names... I will keep everyone posted when I hear anything...

Somebody needs to tell GoDaddy that Pilot nation is for river boat pilots, not airline pilots. Very Happy

Glad to see it's back up. I'll have to bookmark the right page.

Woohooo! Glad to see we are back on with the fancy domain name!

My apologies for the down time on the PilotNation.net domain... there is zero advance notice when the domain name rent lapses, and it takes some time to re-up when it does (even though we pay for it...). I have marked my calendar for next year already, so we shouldn't have this problem again.

Anyway... thanks for your patience! GO PILOTS!

Good thing the renewal period is not during the women's college cup, otherwise it would be like the World Trade Center all over again...

I should clarify that historically, the renewal was essentially instantaneous... but it took a couple days this time, and I dont know why. (And... they dont give you any advance warning or notice of it happening). I wouldn't normally let this happen like this...

It was not acceptable, but its the price we pay for the price we pay... (a.k.a. the site hosting is pretty cheap).

Whew! Yahoo! Glad to see us back in action. I was out of the reach of technology for 9 days, and when I returned last Saturday, I was flabbergasted to find one of my regular sites missing.

Geez , I just went in through the back door (Stoneys favorite green and gold site) Dons Central.

I have now added the working address to my favorites bar. Thanks for fixing it Guys. I think we were out of commission over the weekend because GoDaddy was too busy with Danicas Race Plans Razz

I've noticed that after I post on a thread, the icon turns red to indicate that I have unread posts. But then the unread post is just mine. It hasn't always been like that, right?

Mine does that occasionally, as well.... usually when the response time is slower. It is always gone the next time I visit. confused

Anyone else having this issue?

is it just the hour that is off? you can adjust the time settings in your profile, under the "preferences" portion... towards the bottom there is the summer and winter times to adjust for daylight savings, but it should adjust automatically...
