2011 Recruits
Some observations after looking at the recruiting spreadsheet by college:
UP currently has a class of 4. I know we have stellar class from last year, but anyone else concerned that we are not getting any blue chip class at least by accolade size. I know we can develop players from FC Ptld but I can't see why we can't recruit a couple of national team players each year who want to play regularly infront of 5000 fans and get a very good education to boot.
WCC: Santa Clara looks to have banner year.
PAC 10: UCLA looks to have banner year. Stanford has some top ones too. UW and UO good years. OSU doesn't have even 1 listed for 2011?
ACC: Amazing how many blue chips spread around the conference. BC, UNC, Duke, MD, Vir all great classes. FSU great 2012. Even NC state looks good on paper.
Texas and A&M, Missouri, and OK St look good.
ND looks good in '11 and '12.
Odd one is Kentucky which looks very good for someone who has not made tourney in a while for both '11 and '12?
Yale has nice class for Ivy league school.

I guess I should be more careful about listing schools by conference with all the changes in the works.

Re: 2011 Recruits
I'm not sure if it's a cause for concern for me. I'd love to see us land some great midfielders in the coming years. I think that of the teams in this years' final, Stanford's players may have looked better on paper from a recruiting standpoint, but, Notre Dame dominated the midfield and won the title in the end. In my opinion, having a dominant midfield is what wins the tourney, and midfielders need to be developed... From a recruiting standpoint, our talent level will continue to be pretty exceptional and definitely within the top 4-8 programs in the country.

First one looks like another Cruz: She also runs the 100M in 12.64

Second is BB player too. Looks like she can jump too.

Jeter is 6'2" and looks to be a good rebounder in BB. I don't think Emily M. was even that tall.

Re: 2011 Recruits
It does appear that the high school players with with National team experience are consistently headed elsewhere, ND, Boston College, Stanford, UCLA. Top level recruits/rated recruits presage future fortune, but I would not count the Pilots out quite yet.
I was busy getting to a spot to see the eclipse last night or I would have posted earlier. Kurle looks to be an interesting addition . . .

Well, the interview above states that Stanford was also interested in Jeter. That's a good sign. I love the idea of having a tall player. If she has good technical skills, the coach has a lot of options... But, having a player who can dominate the air isn't something our team has had recently...

Re: 2011 Recruits
I think you're beginning to see the maturing of WS and with that the big programs with the large athletics budgets are now stepping up the competition. Recruiting the elites will be more and more challenging in the coming years.

Re: 2011 Recruits
Kurle is the player that interests me the most this upcoming season, no disrespect 'irish'. She's built like Lindsay Smart! Thick an strong an if she has any speed our opponents are in trouble! And believe me, calling a player thick an strong is not an insult on my part. Actually, it is a compliment an a little bit envious.

My interest lies in what Garrett can do with Malloy Leahy...she reminds me of Cloee, but with Elli moves. I think she will have an impact.

Re: 2011 Recruits
Malloy's and Beka's team, Seattle United (formerly Emerald City) play in the state semi-finals today at the Starfire Soccer Complex in Tukwila. If they win, the state championship game is tomorrow. The team has been practicing hard and recently traveled to the Bay Area where they made it to the finals in a tournament only to lose to the reigning National Championship team. Seattle United includes five headed to Gonzaga, two to San Diego State, two to Central Florida, two to Incarnate Word and one each to Texas, Arizona, Penn, Brown, Nevada, Seattle U and Colgate. Malloy is playing right center back and Beka left forward. With two wins this weekend, they will head to Regionals in Boise mid-June, right before reporting to summer school at Portland June 27th.

For BS rankings on 2011 recruiting class
THE FINAL 2011 RECRUITING CLASS RANKINGS
The usual caveats accompany this final listing of my rankings of the 2011 soccer recruiting classes for D-I women's soccer teams.
I am aware that this method of ranking is primarily dependent on accolades accumulated, teams played on, and the vagaries of the publicity genie. But I would argue that while there are undoubtedly some real omissions of deserving players who should have been counted in a particular class' strength, the overall picture is nonetheless valid.
1. 11.37 UCLA
2. 10.40 Virginia
3. 9.57 Stanford
4. 9.45 Texas
5. 8.70 Notre Dame
6. 8.69 Missouri
7. 8.47 TAMU
8. 8.42 Florida
9. 8.35 Santa Clara
10. 8.17 Penn State
11. 8.11 Maryland

With our leading attendance figures, why don't we attract more blue chip recruits?
