Portland Guard Jared Stohl Joins 1,000-Point Club
University of Portland senior guard Jared Stohl became the 33rd player in school history to score 1,000 career points after Sunday’s 24-point effort in an 89-75 win over Florida Atlantic. Stohl, already the school leader in career three-pointers made, is averaging 16.7 points on the young season as Portland is off to a 3-0 start.

A native of Marysville, Wash., Stohl entered the season with 951 career points. He scored 15 in the season-opener versus UW-Milwaukee, finished with 11 points against UC Davis and then had a game-high 24 on Sunday to give him 1,001 career points.

Stohl led the nation last season in three-point percentage (.478) and is off to another great start this year from beyond the arc. He is 12-for-21 from long range and his 257 career three-pointers are tops in program history and No. 7 in WCC history. The all-time conference leader is Jeff Fryer of LMU (1987-90) with 363.

Stohl and the Pilots will next take the court on Friday when No. 10 Kentucky visits the Rose Garden. Tickets are still available through comcastTix.com or at the Rose Quarter Box Office.

CONGRATULATIONS MR JARED STOHL-I couldn't think of a hardworking kid (shots, bulking up on weights,& working on lateral quickness)...you are a true "hero" to those youngsters who's asinine jr high & high school coaches tell them their to small, slight, or slow to make or even try out for the team. Jared keep it up and next year you will be laughing at those folks, as you play for pay alongside NIK, TJ,& Robin Smeulders overseas....bravo Jared stohl
