Mid-Major Top 25

Post by Stonehouse on Tue Nov 02, 2010 4:58 pm

The first Mid-Major Top 25 poll was released yesterday... three WCC teams in the top 25, and Portland is receiving votes and checks in at "40th." Nice to see us still getting some respect. I love it!

So when BYU joins the WCC next year, will the Cougs be considered a "Major" program (because of football) playing in a "Mid-Major" conference and therefore ineligible to be ranked in this poll?

It's interesting how Santa Clara did not show up on the rankings. I guess the success in the previous few seasons means that we are turning a tide in terms of the perception of Portland Basketball. A solid year this year will continue that trend. A few well timed wins and avoiding those let-down losses could be huge in the future of the program
