SCU is now #9 and San Diego is #17

In the vote of the West region coaches, it's Portland #1, USD #2, and SCU#3, so the order of #'s 2 and 3 is reversed.

also of interest, LMU is #5, SMC is #7, and Pepp #8

This may be the first time Seattle has broken into a regional ranking at #9.

Stanford is top 3 nationally but not in the top three in the West???

Nah, they aren't even in the top 10 in the West.


They are in the Pacific region, where they are ranked #1.

Interestingly, BYU is ranked #2 in the Pacific region, ahead of Arizona State, UCLA, New Mexico, Cal, OSU, USC, UW, and Oregon, in that order.

Of course. It makes abundant sense that Stanford and Santa Clara are in different regions.

It makes perfect sense, they divide the regions based on if they have a BCS American football team, how completely logical!
