Soak up as much of that Stohl magic touch vicariously before you arrive on campus next fall.up7587 wrote:A local commit! David Carr from Central Catholic. A 6-2 guard. From O-Live: LINK.
Good find UP7587! Maybe he can pick up some shooting pointers from the UP all time top shooter Mr Jared Stohl. Don't want to put pressure on the young man, but Rev keeps finding a shooter somewhere up there in the Pacific Northwest. Sounds like a good canidate for the team. A humble, well spoken, HUNGRY to improve young man.
A couple of years in the weight room with coach Scott will turn him into another wirey shooter/creator like our Mr Stohl.Welcome to the UP family!
Was he on anybody's radar, Nut, Geez, Stoney? I heard hide nor hair of him before this, tsk, tsk, tsk

Kyle Wiltjer from Jesuit has committed to Kentucky. Gonzaga was one of his choices. O-Live LINK At least we won't have to play against a local guy when we play the Zags.

Let me see, Zaggettes, or the Kentucky Wildcats.....no brainer...Spunkane or Lexington....no brainer.....be a first round draft pick or like Matt Bouldin, JoshH,or Pargo a B league player. Could this be a little start to a giant leak up north of the Zaggettes losing NW talent
Could be an interesting WCC with all the Lions back who split with them last year,,and St Mary's returning everyone but that stiff Allen ,albeit they will have to replace Chubby in the middle (Samhan).
Congrats Kyle, excellent decision,good luck!!!

This new post from Coach sounds promising:
Hope all the hard work bears fruit!
Via Rev's twitter.
Productive recruiting weekend on the Bluff! Recruit was impressed from start to finish; from meeting the president to hanging with the guys.

Well, he is the only prospect on Rivals with a "high" interest in UP.

Re: Recruiting Tidbits...
Kinda reminds me of Kramer's recruitment in 2007 spring when Trent Johnson and Stanford were pursuing him, Rev picked him up on his Radar at a Christmas tourney (2006) that he and Mickey from St.Marys were playing in back then......except the school to be concerned about now is C.U.(Creighton)......excellent find WRV....Our resident recruiting trail expert.....I wish one of you guys would subscribe to Greg Hicks twitter acct....or follow him on Scout.com, Greg is spot on in most of his evaluations and from personal experience know that he answers all e- mails on player evals.and their school interest....I'm to lazy and caught up in my latest obsession--Golfing

Re: Recruiting Tidbits...
So, any ideas where Rev is looking for players? From his Twitter:
14 hours is too short for Australia, isn't it? Germany?
Very productive day...14 hours in a plane and then a home visit and a school visit. Great day. Time for some rest and back to the airport.

Re: Recruiting Tidbits...
I flew from LAX to Sydney, and that flight was 14 hours... not to mention getting to LAX from PDX.
14 hours sounds more Europe-ish...

Re: Recruiting Tidbits...
This is the Internet age. You can actually look this stuff up. I just typed " flying time LAX Sidney" and got this:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_long_is_the_flight_from_Los_Angeles_to_Sydney
Which gives 14:30 to 13:20 hrs.
And, according to them, the shortest trip from PDX is 20:57 on United with a connecting flight.

Wow, lots of speculation. Does UP pay for direct flights? Or could he be within the continental US with layovers?
I don't think we necessarily need to go to Australia to compete with SMU either. There are plenty of good student athletes at home in the northwest. Though diversity is always nice.

Re: Recruiting Tidbits...
coach rev, taking a flight that takes 28 hrs. round trip, you would have to believe that the player was better than average and that you would be able to sign him
