Cooper Taken in D-League Draft!

Finally some good news to help us forget Wednesday!

Coop - easily one of my all-time favorite Pilots - was taken in the 6th round by the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Thursday. Here's the official release:

I can't remember the exact details, but in Coop's halftime radio interview, it sounded like Pooh made a couple of calls on Coop's behalf to help set this up. Either way, it's fantastic news!

Great stuff -- I watched Darren play as a prep, he's always been one of my favorite players. Plays hard, skilled, and classy ... my type of guy. Good to hear for Coop.

I remember Coop playing at Benson with Robert Day, who went on to have a nice career at WOU, right? I remember thinking that Day had a sweet enough shot to make it at D1. The best were the clashes between Benson and Jefferson at the Chiles Center when Jeff had that amazing team with 6 or 7 D1 guys, and - of course - the Les Shwab Invitationals. I was actually in attendence when Coop dislocated his knee at the LSI... eesh.

Anyway... awesome to hear Pooh was helping out Coop!

Darvin Ham was the third overall pick! I hope the D-League has invested in some good breakaway rims.

Did anyone else notice that Coop will be playing with one of UCLA's finest, Jelani McCoy?

It was nice to see several WCC players were drafted.
