Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe has issued the following statement in regard to the University of Colorado.
"The Big 12 Conference has been informed that the University of Colorado has accepted an invitation to join the Pacific-10 Conference. I continue to work through the process that was agreed upon last week by our Board of Directors to address membership issues, and am working tirelessly towards the long-term viability of the Big 12."

I am happy to announce that Nebraska will remain a proud member of the Big XII for at least another hour or two.

It's official
Nebraska officially voted to jump to the big 11
The Big10 is now the Big12 and the Big12 is now down to 10.
They could just trade emblems- saves on artwork fees.
Two down....

Also, Boise St is officially moving to the Mountain West. Will Iowa State be next? How many mountains in Iowa?

UT, TT, OU and OSU looking to join the Pac-? next Tuesday, according to ESPN. Wither TA&M? Rumors say the SEC. I guess the Aggie Marching Band can't envision sharing a venue with the Stanford "marching" band.
Does that mean Utah joins up as the "partner" school for for CU? And brings the SLC market with it? That's a win for the Pac-?

Supposedly Utah only moves if BYU comes too.

BYU will never be approved by Cal and Stanford, similar to Baylor. Plus, doubling up in one media market doesn't bring any extra money to the table. So if they are paired, it ain't happening. Of course, no one thought Texas and TA&M would ever split. And maybe they won't, but it's on the table.

Interesting O-Live article, saying that either Kansas or TA&M will be the 16th team in the new Pac-16 conference. LINK
Also, looks like Missouri got the chair pulled out from underneath them!

Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany told Big 12 counterpart Dan Beebe that he was not anticipating adding any other Big 12 schools, Beebe said.

Why is that? They don't like the religious schools?

Pretty much, yeah. Plus, BYU brings scheduling problems, since they will not compete on Sundays.

Hm, even TCU hates Baylor.

Re: Pac 10 + Half the Big 12 = Galactic Intercollegiate Empire?
Three things really blow about this whole event to me:
1) Creating a megaconference is more important than a playoff.
2) #1 means college football is still all about money (which isn't the least bit surprising)
3) Pac-10 teams won't be able to play each other as often anymore.
This whole arrangement makes me feel old and like a purist. I guess I need to have a beer and lighten up. Seeing USC crumble while Texas potentially comes into the conference is just plain weird to me. I dislike both teams.
On the other hand, the Pac-10 now will potentially have the two best recruiting states in the land (CA and TX). Overall though, this arrangement blows.

Re: Pac 10 + Half the Big 12 = Galactic Intercollegiate Empire?
Nah, I'd say the frequency of play for the Pac 10 schools will remain pretty consistent, probably just fewer times against ASU/UA than we used to as they will now be in the eastern division of the conference. I'd imagine a football schedule will look like 5 or so against your division and then 3 or so cross over games. I'd think of it more like a Pac 8 schedule, but with a few cross division and a few OOC games. I don't expect basketball much different regular season wise, with a similar staggered tournament like the Big East uses.

The latest rumor is that Texas is out. Thank God. So, for now it potentially looks like the Pac-12 with the potential addition of Utah. That's the latest rumor according to sports radio up here in Seattle.
