to be fair to Jillian, that is, I think, a general UCLA policy set by the AD. Several Pac10 schools are pretty hard nosed about that.

Thanks for the info, Geez. I won't go bashing Jillian elsewhere over this particular issue. But, it does say something about the difference between UCLA and U of P. UCLA's athletic program, apparently, first is about protecting the school, even if at the expense of the student athlete. U of P first is about what is best for the student.

I am not trying to come off as being hyper-cynical but regardless of the school -- be it UCLA, UP, UNC, ND, or Florida State -- TOP LEVEL level D1 college athletics is a business and coaches are paid to win.

Just ask anyone who coaches or plays TOP LEVEL D1 sports -- production (i.e. National Championships) is what cuts it.

It's a high anxiety, dog eat dog world and only the strong survive.
