USC Finds the Culprit Empty USC Finds the Culprit

Post by Guest Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:14 pm

USC lost at Oregon on Saturday, and they found the culprit. Trailing by two with 4:35 to go, the USC bench got assessed a Technical Foul, and Oregon made the free throws. Apparently a Student Manager was cursing at the ref from the end of the bench. USC went on to lose by 10. So of course USC Coach Kevin O'Neill fired the Student Manager, one Stan Holt, because it is well known that no team has ever come back from being down 4 points with 4 plus minutes to go. Glad they solved that problem! Rolling Eyes

Question for you sleuths out there: is the foul-mouthed Mr. Holt any relation to U-Dub football coach Nick Holt, also recently of USC? They have the same hairstyle! Suspect

per this Link, they are not related.

The technical didn't cost them the game, but it was still pretty dumb. A student manager is supposed to sit on the end of the bench and only speak when spoken to, which isn't very often.

I would say the firing is justified. You cant have anyone on the bench yelling obscenities at the ref... even if it was competely deserved. Wink

Hopefully some youtube footage comes out on this...

I happened to be watching a part of a re-broadcast when that event occurred. I backed up the DVR to see what happened. The ref was walking down the court following the play. I didn't see anyone one the bench stand up or even look like they were yelling. Suddenly, the ref turns around and gives the 'T'. I thought maybe he had rabbit ears. Or maybe something had been going on all game, and he was fed up with it.
