It's Bowl Season!

Post by up7587 on Thu Dec 17, 2009 4:41 pm

Time to stock up the chips, ice down the malty beverages, and get ready for the three weeks of Bowl Season. First up, the New Mexico Bowl. As Pat Forde says, "You can't see them all if you don't see the first."

Other than the obvious, is there any bowl that is a "must see" for you?

I don't smoke bowls. Hahaha... On a more serious note...

Go Oregon State!
Go Alabama!
Go Ohio State! Another Ducks loss in a bowl game would be dandy.
...and a nice offseason to UW and ND.

Yeah, bummer OSU did not look like their preparation was very good. I guess the letdown of the Civil War could have carried over...

Well that or the "legendary" Max Hall finally lived up to the billing, if only for one game...

Not only that, but Diane Sawyer is Rachel Nichols' mother-in-law.

Nice to see the Ducks go down. I hope Alabama takes out Texas. I like their chances of putting a good whooping on that team.

I missed the whole game and was WAY behind on this episode... It reminds me of that time I accidentally made a comment about Andrea Bocelli on the Grammys being "really intense or really nervous, he just closes his eyes and sings..." only to find out... Whoopsies!!

Haha I'm glad her fellow university members stood up for her though!

I think it was crazy to see that video (I am assuming it is the one I have seen all over) all over the web. It seemed pretty obvious to me she was blind or something was "wrong" with her. Apparently people are pretty cruel after high school too. (and yes, I am mostly pointing a finger at you PILOTNUT!!!!!) Now go drink some W10 in penance.

And you know what they say about assuming... thankfully you have always been a beacon of correctness to which we all can aspire... Razz

Just to be on the safe side, I will do the penance anyway... drunken

If you buy a regular compass, the arrow points north.

If you buy a moral compass, it points to where ever I am standing at that moment.

Let's all just move past this by telling a few Gilbert Arenas jokes.

Not soon enough... I found it ironic that they decided to add extra metal detectors at arena fan entrances the other day, it made me wonder if the players get the same treatment...

During the last couple of years, before Iíd even heard of PN, there was some good give-and-take from the die-hards about the various bowl games; what happened this year?

I admit I didnít watch very many games this year, and certainly none in their entirety thanks to the DVR, but was it just a matter of bad match-ups or have the games become too numerous for us to care?

I admit to having enjoyed the Fiesta and Rose Bowls, and the FCS Championship game too (South Dakota St. upset previously unbeaten Sam Houston St.), but that was about it.

I have a VERY CLOSE relative who is an Alabama graduate, so I had to watch the BCS Bowl, but was LSU really the #1 team in the nation? Thatís the first time Iíve seen them play without Billy Cannon I'm old! , but they seemed to lack any star power or spirit.

Your thoughts? I'm waiting. . .

Hahaha to be perfectly honest I didn't even realize there was a game yesterday I've had so little time to pay attention to college football...

My guess is you werenít alone; TV ratings were down for this yearís game. Yesterdayís game on ESPN earned a 14.0 rating, down 8 percent from last year; itís the second-lowest rating of the 14 BCS title games, beating only a 13.9 for Miami-Nebraska in 2002.

Was there another Republican Debate going on at the same time? elephant

Iím thinking a field goal-filled shutout couldnít compete with a thrilling finish for television viewers. Do you remember last year? Auburn drove for a winning field goal on the final play to beat Oregon 22-19 tongue
