UCLA game

Post by Harry Redknapp on Sun Nov 22, 2009 1:16 pm

According to the Bruins recap of the 3-0 win over Virginia, the Portland game is 5 p.m. on Saturday.

That's the only details I've seen so far. Everywhere else says tbd.

And plane fares are off the scale because it's a holiday weekend.

Sorry. I thought it was Friday. The Blazers are on KGW Saturday. I hope it gets picked up, too so I can watch somewhere.

The UCLA men are also hosting next weekend, but on Sunday. I'm a little surprised. I assumed that they always tried for Friday because it is relatively easier to travel on Thursday and Saturday on Thanksgiving weekend.

The women's soccer schedule page at the Pilots' website has the game scheduled at 5:00 pm, but indicates November 27-29. As stated by '78 Alum, the NCAA bracket has the game as Saturday at 5:00 pm our time. It seems stupid to me that a team would not schedule the game on Friday, so that the winner has the same amount of rest as the other teams (all playing Friday) come the College Cup. But, maybe UCLA has some kind of conflict. I also wouldn't be surprised if ULCA has picked a time it thinks will make things more difficult for the Pilots. That is the kind of chippy stuff they do. Since the Pilots haven't confirmed the date yet, I wonder if there's some kind of debate going on.

Tricia Miller at U.P. confirmed the game is Sat. at 5:00 pm. It will be interesting to see how many UCLA fans show up, since UCLA plays USC in football at 7:00 pm. that night.

For anyone interested, JetBlue Airlines flies nonstop from Portland to Longbeach.

GO PILOTS!!!!

I'm planning to be there in purple. Any other fans making the trip? I bought my ticket two weeks ago when the bracket came out.
