Scoring
  • Tajuan Porter, G 18.7 ppg

  • LeKendric Longmire, G 11.0 ppg

Rebounding
  • Jamil Wilson, F 7 rpg
  • Joevan Catron, F 5.7 rpg
  • Michael Dunigan, C 5.7 rpg

Other
  • Porter is averaging 3.7 3-pointers per game whilst shooting 42.3% from deep.
  • Malcolm Armstead is averaging a team-high 4.3 assists per game.

Credit to the20pointmay for previously noting that their top 3 scorers are guards. Hopefully we can get 1-2 bigs to have great days against Oregon. I think we'll be able to neutralize Porter Smile

20pointmay, remember how Nate has a man-crush on Tajuan Porter??? Very Happy

Although... If you unveiled it at the appropriate time, and were sitting in the right place... It could have beneficial effects...

I have a few current Mancrush's boys

Post by MesaPilot1 on Thu Nov 19, 2009 5:22 am

Dave Libbey ,WCC head of Officials and Adam Morrison. My past crush's were on JP Batista,and Hank but you ladies and gent's all know that. Mesa likes a Zaggette santa.

Back to the topic, I wish like PilotNut mentioned more of the local Metropolis there in PDX can make it to the "Mecca", opps sorry, the Chiles Center on Sat. The Pilot's really need that home court support as much as they needed it against the Zags last season. Besides , was not that great to see, I kinow it made my heart (yes, I have one) swell to watch you attendees last Zag home game.

PP13 I hoe you can get a good student representation. I know from talking to the player's that really get's them "jacked" up.

Aww Mesa you're got me beat. Temps here are WAY DOWN in the mid-60s; sometimes I have to wear a light jacket.

If this game is like the Oregon game two years ago, it'll be a packed house. I'm not sure how many of the fans will be Pilot fans, though. The students should come out in pretty big numbers to see this game. I wonder if Purple Pride will go with a "Duck Hunt" theme like they did two years ago.

Oregon was picked by one of the national writers as one of 10 teams who could make a big turnaround this year. We definitely shouldn't take them lightly (we shouldn't take any team lightly, but it's more fun to say it about each team individually, right? Smile ).

I'm not too sure about the packed house. Not as much buzz about Duck basketball lately. And the Ducks will be playing for the opportunity to go to the Rose Bowl on TV with an overlapping broadcast time. So local Ducks may be home watching football instead of showing up at Chiles.

Very true, plus people are pretty down on the basketball program right now in a lot of people's minds...

Unfortunate timing of the games... Football kick-off, 5pm and hoops tip-off, 7pm.

Hopefully the purple folks will show up in force. There has been a notable advertising push for this game...

I hate the Ducks. My dream is to not just beat them, but, to run up the score.

Oh man... didn't even realize the football game overlapped. That'll probably keep some people at home for sure, but hopefully not too many.

Gotta believe there will be a better crowd on Saturday, even if it's not stuffed to the gills with Ducks fans like it would be on a "normal" non-football game night. The students will be there in force (they've had great turn-out so far... they just need to make some noise!), there will be more UP alums there, there will still be plently of locals there to watch the Ducks (and maybe check out the Pilots?), and there will of course be lots of UO alums. Still expect a solid crowd for sure.

Tuesday night is a tough one to start the season against, especially against a still-transitioning D1 team like Seattle. I was a bit disappointed with the turnout, but what are you gonna do? You have to hit people over the head with a sledgehammer to get them to pay attention these days. (Oh my Lord... did I just quote Kevin Spacey from Se7en? I think I just did. Yikes.)

Beating Oregon, beating UCLA, beating Gonzaga... those are our sledgehammers. Let's hope we get to use some of them! Smile

And it also doesn't help that SU's following is pretty low too since it's been decades since their D-I level and even more since they were relevant... My brother goes there and says there is very little, if any, interest on campus (it doesn't help that they have to truck miles away to Key Arena for home games), but then again my little brother is a strange one...

Preview from the Daily Emerald... Kent and the team saying all the right things. I've cut out a few choice bits:

“They [T.J. and Nick] both could play in our league,” Kent said of the guard tandem. “Campbell is just really, really steady and not going to make many mistakes. Ravio is a big time player. Every time he gets a chance to light you up he’s going to do that and it’s going to be a challenge for us.

* * *

“Eric (Reveno) has done a great job with this team and you can see why people have picked them to challenge Gonzaga because they have all the pieces there,” Kent said. “They have the size, the experience, the great guard play. It’s going to be a big test for us.”

* * *

“I think we have a great focus going into the weekend,” Wilson said. “We’ve been talking about Portland since Sunday and Coach Kent said that we’re not taking a day off, and that’s a good thing.”

Campbell (18 ppg) vs. Porter (18.7 ppg) will be a good matchup.

If Campbell stays in Porter's face , which I think he will, we will win!
