Portland and Seattle have squared off 101 times dating back to the 1946-47 season. Gonzaga is the only program the Pilots have faced more than the Redhawks. Seattle owns a 73-28 all-time lead over Portland, although the Pilots won last year’s meeting at the Chiles Center by a 71-67 margin. Robin Smeulders led Portland with 22 points and seven rebounds in the victory.

Yikes! I see they will use the Pilots from the web feed at Kell's in Seattle.
I wonder what 400x300 pixels looks like on the big screen.

Jealousy? Check. Have a ball tonight, everyone. Make lots of noise and give these guys the home atmosphere they deserve!

Re: Seattle U @ Portland, Tuesday, 7pm
Seattle U gave us a very tough game at the Chiles Center last year... and have added a really good player in Charles Garcia. We take this game lightly at our own peril.
Still... I expect to see a very solid win by the Pilots tonight and would be disappointed if it were a nail-biter. What I loved about the EWU game was our defense and rebounding - would love to see us continue that and make it a staple of our team this year. The outside shooting will be there every night (our shooters will occasionaly have off-nights, but we have so many of them that it will be difficult for any team to shut us down from the outside completely), but getting stops and playing tough defense is always something that can be worked on. Also hope we cut down on the turnovers and the generally sloppy play on the offensive end. I'll chalk it up to first-game jitters and all that, but one of the hallmarks of last year's team was offensive efficiency - got to maintain that this year.
Looking for another big game from Sikma, and hopefully we won't get into as much foul trouble. Would love to see Stohl get going too - EWU did a good job of denying him, but paid the price by letting TJ go off.
My prediction? A 15+ point win.

Stoney, I hope your right! Charles Garcia had a huge night against Ok St for his debut. 18 pts and 9 boards. We best be ready!

It would be entertaining to see a Garcia vs. Sikma double double contest.

Seattle U is always a tough game. I dont know what it is about that team but they always come to play.
Anybody know what their D1 status is? Are they still transitioning? What stage are they at?

SU is playing a full D-1 schedule this year. They are eligible for the NCAA tourney in 2012 (or there abouts).

Well, first I went to the women's game. Then...
This is going to be hard to believe. I was asleep.
Tonight I'll be in the Chiles center, not the chat room.
No wifi there...

On another thread we are talking about rivalries. I think if Seattle U. had not dropped basketball, they would be our main rival, not GU. They were the Northwest big-time school back in the day. And there was talk of foul play in recruiting (one story I seem to remember was that Elgin Baylor was going to come to UP until SU "stole" him). Close enough and similar enough to maintain a heated relationship with. Too bad that fell apart.

There are two wireless access points in the Chiles Center, but I believe you need to have a University account to access them...I've never tried.
During women's games I stare at those access points during the national anthem (because I can't see the flag from the band).

The way I heard it was Elgin couldn't meet UP's entrance requirements and Seattle was his second choice.

I'm curious what kind of system Dollar is going to install for the Redhawks, they don't have the athletes to run what he played with at UCLA or coached at UW... Curious fact, he actually hired his dad to be one of his assistants (His dad was a long time high school/small college coach in the ATL area i do believe). But anyway, I'm not sure if we'll see the very deliberate pace SU employed last year or a more uptempo style to reflect their coach...
