Pilots XC Finish 2nd At West Regionals!!!
WOW!!!!! The Pilots finished in second place at the West Regionals this morning... earning an automatic bid to nationals and placing well ahead of Oregon. Amazing race by senior Tommy Betterbed (5th overall) and our amazing freshmen amazed again... Osoro 8th and Dunbar 12th. Huge congrats to Coach Conner and the team!

AHHHHH WE BEAT OREGON!!!!
I wouldn't have expected Alfred to be our #4. I wonder if he had a bit of an off day (for him) or if the other guys just ran out of their minds...

All with five freshmen, one sophomore, and only one senior running. The future looks extremely bright for our harriers.

Oregonian Article
Funny they mention being "outmanned" by Stanford, and yet they got beat by another team too... But Stanford, yeah.... I might hazard to say they are, good.

My favorite quote:
sounds like Rob thinks there's something left in the tank.
"I told (the team), 'This is regionals, we're just here to advance,'" Portland coach Rob Conner said. "You make your name at nationals."

According to the article in the Sunday, Eugene Register Guard, Kipchumba was running with a broken wrist suffered in a bicycle accident this past Monday. So, in that context, 22nd isn't too bad.

Had a chance to congratulate Coach Conner at the men's game today. Great result for a very quiet program that's been built up here on the bluff.
