With the 55th overall selection, the blazers take Patty Mills.

A great steal if you ask me, was projecting early 2nd on most mock drafts kind of fell into the blazers lap. With sergio out of the picture Mills will be number 3 point guard unless a free agent is signed, i'm pumped Mills is legit

Awesome pick for the Blazers. It addresses a need position, and even if Mills' game is unpolished still he's got a tremendous asset in his speed.

I mean, to get a guy a lot of people thought could be a lottery guy with the sixth-to-last pick in the draft? That's terrific.

I'm pumped. I really am. Great pick.

Jon Brockman before Patty?? wha?? (btw, patty coming out and not even having a guaranteed contract, not exactly what he was looking for I'm sure...)

I have questions as to where he fits on the Blazers roster being the 3rd PG (and the 2nd PG that has yet to prove themselves as a true one) now that Sergio is gone (Thank GOD). I wonder if he will have a shot at a roster spot, or if they will let him go overseas and improve his defense and scoring in the lane... Haha but all that said, this is the definition of GREAT value with such a late pick.

P.S. speaking of slipping, Chase Budinger goes from a lottery pick 2 years ago to 2nd round?? And Dajuan Blair, wow he fell crazy far... And it's a good thing Jeremy Pargo stayed another year to "work on his whole game"...

This draft makes me wonder how some people stay employed, the Minny GM drafts 2 undersized point guards... BJ Mullens didn't even start on his team, Sigh... And don't get me started on Steve Kerr, he has turned (or been forced to turn by finances) from the most entertaining team to Steve Nash's ailing corpse and a bunch of mediocrity (esp. when the Stoudamire trade goes through...) And Chris Wallace, the Grizzlies GM/Lakers MVP of the last 2 years, takes a player who WILL require a liver transplant within 25 years tops over players like Blair, Mills, etc??? I mean people say "I could do a better job than that" when talking about the picks GMs made, but honestly I'm pretty convinced Mesa could do a better job of assessing talent without ever leaving his couch than Chris Wallace....

Patrick Mills would have been better off waiting until next year's draft when there won't be as many quality guards. I guess he didn't want to get sucked down into the Jeremy Pargo vortex.

Don't get me started on Steve Kerr, now his little buddy Robert Sarver(owner) of the Sun's is having finacial problems. That's part of the reason their trying to "dump" their big contracts. Evil or Very Mad

Apparently Minnesota drafted Flynn as a backup plan in case Rubio decided not to sign with the team... Which apparently is looking like the case... What an ugly situation. It's unfortunate that Rubio is daunted by that buyout clause where HE has to pay 90% OF 6 mill, even though he has only made 150K at the most in his career over in Spain. The rookie salary won't be anywhere near that, and shoe contracts are now far and few between and not nearly as lucrative because of the economy. It's a tough decision, but looks like we may have to wait a while before we see his passing state side. As for Mills, yeah it's unfortunate that in this HORRIBLE draft this year, he played the one position that had ANY depth; you gotta wonder who the person was that gave him that bad advice...

Just saw this little nugget:
http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62166/20091016/blazers_sign_patty_mills/

Good news for Patty! (and I'm assuming the reason why Pooh never really stood a chance at making the roster) A pretty cryptic little article, and no real details on the contract (or if he even counts toward the 15 man roster), but Patty stays in black and red, or at least will be representing them in the D-League...

If he's 185, he gained about 20 lbs over the summer.

I was thinking more along the lines that the last Blazer who gained 20 lbs over the summer was this guy.

Where's Jerry (I give up trying to spell this little spoiled kid's name anymore) Bayless scratch .

You can trade him to the Sun's please. A perfect compliment to our old gray haired Steve Nash. Or they could play him when Nash is on the bench takin Geritol and layin prone on the court with that chronc back dealio he claims he has. Thank goodness we unloaded that over the hill , one dimensional O'neill. Let me get the ball travel to withing two feet of the basket, offensive charge on the defensive player, travel, miss my free throws, then jump up 3 inch's and dunk it.

Mr Calvin Hill's (Dallas Cowboy RB 1970's) son Grant has been a pleasent addition to our team though.

We still have Amare' Stoudimere though, if he could only learn something beside "el maditor" defense he's probably first team NBA selection for the next 5 plus years.

Haha, what they need to do is instead of penny pinch, just fire the head coach and have Steve Nash be player/coach... Then maybe they wouldn't have to sell first round picks, not be able to sign free agents, and rely on Chainning Frye being a "big" free-agent acquisition...

DTR,

BTW Channing went to the same parochial school as Jerry Bayless. Imagine if he had gone to the PUBLIC school in the district he grew up in.....Dobson High School Arrow then gone to UP instead of Zona. It would have made your's and Stoney and the crew's undergrad days a little more interesting??? Oh well I thought I would get the what if's in there before I start my desertations on Jose Slaughter, Rik Ravio, or some of the guys from the 50's teams.

2010 is the current year folks-breakout year-23 win season,WCC title contention, and NIT/or NCAA tourney bid by the Son of Jack,Nik,TJ,Robin,Kramer,Jared,Ethan,BJ, etc,etc,................. Beating a Dead Horse Beating a Dead Horse
