Quick WCC Update

Post by Stonehouse on Mon Oct 08, 2007 11:51 am

Hey folks... since WCC play is starting up I figured it would be good to give a quick conference update. Santa Clara lost 4-1 at UCLA on Saturday, dropping them to 7-2-2 overall. This tells me two things: 1) UCLA is darn good with Kara Lang back and 2) We definitely shouldn't feel bad at all dropping that match in OT.

Anyway, here are the standings:

#19 USD 9-1-2
#2 SCU 7-2-2
GON 8-3-1
LMU 8-3-1
#8 POR 8-3-0
SMC 5-4-2
PEP 2-4-5
USF 0-8-3

LMU has won eight in a row after a rough start, including wins over some decent teams. San Diego keeps on winning too, and will likely keep moving up in the rankings. Gonzaga hasn't played a tough schedule but has been winning, so they're a team to watch out for. SMC and Pepperdine are pretty weak, and USF has been awful. Clearly the cream of the crop are UP and SCU with USD and LMU not too far behind.

Anyway, that's all... just figured I would post it so people could get an idea of how things stand as of right now.

Good conference reality check, Stonehouse. Nice to have this in the back of one's mind heading into the big game Saturday night.
