Pilots in WPS
It appears that all former Pilots in the WPS with the exception of Corie Alexander were retained by their current teams. Many many top quality players became free agents today. ( I cant find any info on Lisa Sari, did she have a multi year deal?

Re: Pilots in WPS
The WPS web site under news/transactions said today the Los Angeles declared Lisa a free agent.
Maybe someone could define waived players and free agents.

Well, it could be that those waived players still have rights attached to them, so technically another team could select them off waivers and have contractual rights to them. Whereas a Free Agent gets to treat it as an open market.

Re: Pilots in WPS
waivers usually means other teams get a chance to pick up a player (usually in some sort of ranking order ie worst record first or rotation through the league) before the original team can re-sign a player. so the league gets a chance to apportion before a trade can happen. This would make sense when all the teams are owned by the same entity.
And sometimes they have to pay the original team for the rights.
It seems different in ever sport.

Here's the definitive response to waivers and free agency in the WPS from the commissioners blog.
