interesting results

Post by PurpleGeezer on Sun Sep 27, 2009 1:10 pm

Some results today:

FSU beat BC today 3:2. I guess that puts an end to BC's #1 votes.

and TAMU lost today to Oklahoma 2:3

Illinois tied Minnesota 1:1

Michigan State beat Penn State 3:2

Penn State is struggling this year. I thought their defense was pretty solid and they offense can get the shot, but not put it in goal. The 3 goals by MSU today showed their defense not so strong. They are very highly at risk of not winning the Big Ten this year. I think the league have about 7 solid teams this year.

Their struggling is a surprise to me, I had them as a dark horse possible College Cup team before the season began.

If they don't win the Big Ten, they may be in even bigger trouble. With a current record of 4-5-1, they must go at least 5-4 over their remaining Big Ten games even to be considered for an at large position in the NCAA Tournament. Even a 5-4 record in those games is not a sure thing.

Fullerton tied UW with 8 seconds left in regulation and the score ended 1-1 after overtimes.

UW had the run of play, but not enough. Nightmare for them.

Interesting results tonight in the ACC. Virginia and Maryland tied at 2-2, and Wake pulledof a bit of a shocker against FSU 3-0. Id like to se a first hand report on that one.

Tomorrow the interest shifts to the PAC10., as Stanford comes to OSU to play what so far has been a very good defensive team, a CAL team in disarray comes to Oregon, and UW and WSU square off. USC also plays Ariz State.
The only game that doesn't seem so interesting is UCLA -Arizona. This will start to separate he PAC10 teams a bit.

Also FLA plays Alabama
Rutgers squares off against ND

From the Stanford website:

Game Coverage
There will be live stats via Gametracker on the gostanford.com Web site for both matches. There is no live video for Friday's match, but there will be for the Sunday match against Oregon. The webcast can be found on goducks.com.

For you soccer junkies,

UNC plays NC State at 7:00 Eastern, 4:00 Pacific. There is apparently a free live video feed of that game.

Sounds like Stanford beat OSU 3-0 in a game that was scoreless at the half.

Oregon lost at home to Cal 2-1.
