Hmmm, some interesting facts about the effects of pressure on coaches at ND:

Frank Leahy retired after the 1953 season at age 45 for health reasons and never coached again. Ara Parseghian retired after the 1974 season at age 51 because of the stress and never coached again. Dan Devine retired after the 1980 season at age 56 and never coached again.

If you accidentally run into the new Coach as you stroll campus, what is the proper etiquette? Bow? Avert gaze? Hearty handshake?

Well, it turns out that a hearty handshake is the proper etiquette. I ran into Kelly Last Friday after his press conference. The exchange went something like this:

Me: "Rochin54 - Proud UP Alumni"

Him: "Brian Kelly"

Me: "Nice to meet you, Brian"

I'm pretty sure we're on a first name basis now.

Did he ask if you had any eligibility left? Weren't you a cornerback? I'm pretty sure there aren't any on the roster, based on their passing defense stats.

I had a short stint as a pro in the Canadian Football League during a spring break trip to Vancouver with DTR. It was wild, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but it ruined my amateur status.
