I see a game tracker for the Washington game, shown on their site. Does anyone know of any video or audio available? Is there a bus going to the game? Will it stop in Minneapolis this time?

Incidently, Washington has a defenseman named Kendyl Pele. I wonder . . . . . Nah.

I was wondering about the video as well, previous matches have been shown through the CBS video that UW has on their athletics page... not sure about this time around.

Well, we can find out tonight (and scout UW in the process, maybe).

They play Seattle U at 7:00 PM Pacific, so we can see if their free video feed works yet. If it does, there's a reasonable assumption to be made that you can watch Sunday's game as well.

The link to watch is at

http://www.gohuskies.com/sports/w-soccer/sched/wash-w-soccer-sched.html

On the right of the schedule proper there's a box that says "next event" click on "Watch"

I'll bet you need the proper pluggins, but I'm sure you'll get scolded about that and perhaps coached on where to get them.

here's what I got when I tried just now:
weekend games Pictur31

As a Bonus, you get to see Seattle U. as they break into D1.
They are 2-0-0 after last weekend.

No Bus from Minneapolis, but I bet you can get it if you stand on the square in Fargo tonight at 1:00 AM. Get packing!

Well, the good news is that you can open the game, the bad news is that it '"currently unavailable>

So I went to gametracker, and 3 minutes in it's Seattle 1, UW 0

Seattle 1:0 Washington

at the half.

UW leads 11-4 in shots, 8-5 in corners, but not where it counts.

well, UW ties it in the 59th - 1:1

and goes ahead 2:1 in the 71st.

Which stands as the final score. UW got a scare tonight.

Pretty good for the redhawks in their second year of D1

I think in the long run Seattle U. will be a good D1 addition to the Northwest.

No mystery about where UW's offense is going to come from,

Veronica Perez, McKenna Waitley, and Alex Kirk combined for 15 of their 21 shots.

That's where an awful lot of it came last year, so it doesn't look like anything new.

Since we're talking Huskies, anyone dare guess what there shots number will be against the Pilots on Sunday? I'm thinking 6-7, and that's total shots, not shots on goal.

I really don't think our GK's will have to make six saves again till maybe late in the playoffs. And that's a big maybe. I'm old!

But, sophomore midfielder Kate Deines was their #2 scorer last year. I have to confess, I'm partial to Kate because she's originally a Portland girl, later moved to Issaquah. Went to the Grant High School Mighty Mites camp and camps at U of P, was a youth national team player, then had an injury and dropped out of sight for a while. At one point, she was at the top of the Pilots' recruiting list. Her parents are family friends of ours and are very nice people. We were hoping for several years that she would end up a Pilot, but for whatever reason it didn't work out.

However, as "aldinho" says, the same as last year -- but with players a year more mature.

Just looking at Gametracker it's hard to tell exactly, but she wasn't mentioned much tonight. she only took two shots. It would be interesting to see if her role has changed (holding mid?)

Isn't there anything we can discuss about Cal? Washington is Sunday's game. Isn't the big home opener tomorrow night against Cal?

Would someone just come out and admit that, except for Alex Morgan, nobody knows a tinker's dam about Cal, and that's why we're talkin' Huskies!

I'm waiting. . . Cheerfully! Very Happy

Quote from Alex Morgan in The Daily Californian student newspaper.
"It's pretty new because instead of having four in the back, we have four in the midfield. So, the midfield has to go up. They can't just act as defenders ... So now we have two outside midfielders that are attacking all the time and we have three forwards in the box all the time. Our attacking mentality has definitely changed."
What challenges will this cause for the Pilots?

We'll have to figure out which of the only 3 Cal Defenders we want to expose. Or I suppose we could expose all.

Great quote, Penn St/UP Fan. Sounds like Cal is definitely going to be an attacking team. However, their three defenders anf GK had best be awfully good, because I think we counter their attack by keeping pressure on their defense.

Therefore, if Cal is always running for their lives defensively, their offensive attack might become a moot factor. (English majors, does "moot factor" make any sense?)

What do you guys and gals think of a 3-4-3?

If you've got Chloe in the center a 3-4-3 might work.

3-4-3 can work, but it all depends on the speed of the opposition... with only 3 in the back, a speedy counterattacking forward can be pretty devastating...

I contend she took that strong wide touch for the sole opportunity of burning the same 2 defenders twice on the same play...

That gets sweeter every time I see it.

I would love for Garrett to just turn Michelle loose. For those of you who saw the Oregon match, I know she scored a goal early in the second half. But from attacking mid - is that the best position for the team to take advantage of her amazingly explosive speed?

This is a player who should be scoring 20-25 goals a year. Yeah, I know we've got the Foxy Machine, Sophie and others, but Michelle is a senior. Time for her to make her mark, and set herself up for future WPS and national team duty.
