The second annual first goal of the season thread

Post by PurplePrideTrumpet on Fri Jul 17, 2009 1:29 pm

Since I haven't seen any live soccer for two weeks and won't until next week, and the opener against Oregon is about 5 weeks away, I thought I would start a thread like we had last year: Who scores the first Pilot goal of the season? You can even guess when.

And since he's just been promoted, I nominate DTR to judge this contest and determine what prize will be awarded. Smile

Great idea. I'll pick Foxhoven in the 15th minute @ Eugene.

I have no problem with that...

But I still haven't been given my key to the prize closet yet, something about weaning my actual power/priveliges until I demonstrate I won't clean out the walk in beer fridge when nobody's looking...

Good luck with the keys thing.

I take the cooler contents seriously.

Trusting that you will find a way o procure the Countache as a prize, here's my guess.

Foxhoven is too easy. She has a track record, and she is up front. In order to separate myself from the crowd, here's my guess.

going with the theory that a frosh will get the first score,

Colohan, on a corner from Reed --12th minute.

That would be just too good and I'd love it. But, I'll go with Sophie in the 37th minute.

Ooooo, so I guess I should have established this ahead of time, are we going with Price is Right scoring rules?

OK, I'll say Charney Burke in the 17th (with an assist from Kelsey Davis).

It's pretty cool that we have so many choices of scorers ... and all of them are reasonable choices!

The fall season must be getting close: I had a dream last night about the opening match in Eugene. In the dream the Ducks scored in the first minute, then I woke up. Mad Fortunately, my dreams rarely seem to come true. Smile

Annnnd I'd say UPSF has this one wrapped up...

The guess of Sophie in the 37th was pretty spot on to the actual 39th... Well done, your prize is getting to sit in Geezaldihno's fur lined seats at a game of his choosing!
