UP Tennis Hosting Davis Cup Practices

Post by Stonehouse on Thu Sep 27, 2007 10:41 am

This is very cool news...

Current U.S. Davis Cup captain Patrick McEnroe, John McEnroe's younger brother, will visit Portland in the next few weeks to raise awareness of the event, Curley said. The full team -- world No. 5 Andy Roddick and No. 7 James Blake in singles and brothers Bob and Mike Bryan, the world No. 1 doubles team -- probably will arrive about one week before the final. Practices at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center on the University of Portland campus will be closed to the public.

How exciting for the tennis team!!! How cool would it be to let Andy Roddick or Games Blake use your locker for a while?

Actually, I heard that the availability of the UP tennis center as a practice facility played a big part in the decision to bring the Davis Cup here. Very cool!

Mmm... don't know yet. If you know anyone on the tennis teams, they would probably be the best bet for that info.

I'll see what I can do.
